Fun with Lasers

Katie thought she'd confuse Mr. Limpet one night and get three lasers going at the same time.

More Fun with the Cat

Katie was playing with an app on her Kindle one night, and The Incredible Mr. Limpet was immediately enticed.

Mr. Limpet watched me play my app.

Then he'd reach up and try to do the same thing as me!

Gobi

When we went out to breakfast, Katie insisted on taking her stuffed dog, Gobi, that Garyldine and Jim gave her for Christmas. She got the dog with a biographical book of Gobi, a dog from China that found her family in a very unusual way. Katie LOVES this dog!

Garyldine likes this dog as much as I do!

A Fun Breakfast

When our cousins, Teresa and Scott, were in town, we got invited to go to breakfast with them. Katie always loves spending time with relatives!

We had a good time laughing with everyone!

Old Toys are New Again

Katie loves finding her old toys. She sometimes plays with them the same ways she used to, and other times, she finds new ways of playing with them. It's always like finding new toys though!

I still love my stacking blocks. I still like to stack them, but I also like to read every side now.

A Good Find

Recently Katie discovered the Mr. Men and Little Miss series by Roger Hargreaves on her Kindle and has fallen in love with them. She was shocked when I told her I had the whole series in my classroom. She's very happy to read them in her spare time at school!

I love how many different characters are in this series!

Fancy Mr. Limpet

Katie was playing in her room when she found an old dress that she had gotten for Bailey. She thought it was the perfect dress for Mr. Limpet.

I thought Mr. Limpet looked really good in pink sparkles! 

He stayed pretty calm in his dress!

A Creative Game

One morning Katie disappeared into the dining room and got busy with scissors and paper. You never know what she might come up when she gets those supplies! She decided she would make a "drawing bucket." She put little slips of paper inside a container. The papers had special activities written on them. She decided each person in the family could draw out a paper, and then we could do the activity.

I let my mom choose out of the drawing bucket first! 

She chose "Grandma Day," which meant that we would do everything Grandma wanted for the day!

Silly Girl

One night, Katie was on my lap and she said, "Put my pony tail up and give me bangs!" Then she had to look at herself in the mirror (what she calls my phone in selfie mode), and she thought it was so funny! Of course, she took a picture of herself while she was being silly.

I like to have make believe bangs once in a while, but I still like my hair better without them!

Thank You Cards

Katie got busy recently writing thank you cards for her Christmas gifts. This year, she wanted to send some artwork with each thank you card too. It took awhile, but she was proud of her work!

The first thing I did was to write the words in my cards. 

Then I made a picture for each card. I was so thankful for all of my gifts!

A Hairdresser

Katie goes through phases where she loves to play with her toys' hair and create different hairstyles. Recently, she has been styling her My Little Pony dolls.

I've gotten pretty good at twists and braids!

Card Shopping

When one holiday ends, and displays come out for the next holiday, it's very exciting to Katie. She was so happy to see the Valentine cards come out and began checking them out right away!

I really like the cards that play music!

Another Chance to See an Author

When Pete Souza, Barack Obama's photographer, was coming to town to promote his book, Katie knew she wanted to go see him. Katie sat quietly for the whole hour and a half talk and loved hearing the stories of a president that she likes.

We were some of the first people in the theater, and it gave me time to check out the book. 

I was excited to find out the book had been signed! 

When it was time to start, we heard the personal stories of President Obama that went along with the pictures. I loved the night!

And That's a Wrap

When my sister, Jennifer, took down her Christmas decorations, Katie was right there to help. The whole season went so fast this year!

I love helping put decorations away!

A Gift from Kai

Katie was so happy to receive a gift from Kai. He had brought it back from Taiwan.

I couldn't believe that Kai thought of me while he was in Taiwan! 

He wrote me such a nice note! 

He gave me some stationary and some Disney bath petals! Thank you, Kai!

A Surprise Gift

When Katie opened the front door and found an envelope with her name on it, she was more than thrilled. My sister, Debby, had sent her a toy for the cat.

Aunt Debby sent a laser toy, and Mr. Limpet loved it! 

It's like a double toy. You can use it like a laser, or... 

...you can turn it into a flashlight and confuse the cat! Thank you, Aunt Debby!

Time for the Dentist

Katie ended her winter vacation by going to the dentist. She has to spend a little extra time in the dentist office than some kids, so it's a good thing that she loves her dentist!

When I found out that my regular dentist was going to be there, I was pretty happy! 

I can wait around in the dentist chair without much anxiety!

More Time with the Cat

It's hard to stop cuddling with something as cute as a new cat!

Mr. Limpet loves soft blankets. 

He would like to sit on one all day long!

Reading with a Friend

Katie has always liked reading to the pets. She started training The Incredible Mr. Limpet to listen to stories from the first night he was with us. She is still working on his training, but he's doing well!

Mr. Limpet knows he has to sit still during story time!

Bath Bombs

Katie got a package of bath bombs for Christmas this year. She loves to open them to see what color they will be and how they will smell. Mr. Limpet likes the bath bombs just as much as Katie.

Sequin Art

Katie got an owl to decorate with sequins as a Christmas present. She decided to begin her project on New Year's Eve. We'll see if it gets done before next year!

I loved putting the sequins in the Styrofoam owl! 

It takes patience to use the small pins and follow the pattern, but it's fun!

Taking Care of Sally

After Mr. Limpet scratched his eye on our tree, we ended up having to take him to the vet to check it out. Katie decided to take her Sally doll to entertain herself while she waited for the vet. Luckily, in the end, Mr. Limpet's eye would be just fine with a week of eye drops.

I went back and forth between checking on the cat and making hair styles for my doll. 

I love Sally's yarn hair for making ponytails!

The Cat and the Tree

The Incredible Mr. Limpet let us know right away that he loved our Christmas tree. He loved to knock any ornament off of it that he could reach, he loved to pull the garland off and play in it, and he is also the first cat we've ever had in our house who liked to climb up the inside of our tree. Because of this, we took our tree down earlier than usual this year. While we took the tree down, the cat continued to play in it. Of course, he ended up scratching his eye while he was in the middle of the tree! Katie loved the whole show!

He would just crawl out on his own. 

After his tree adventures, I  spent some time with a calm cat.

Fast Friends

Katie and The Incredible Mr. Limpet are almost always together. They didn't need much convincing to become friends!

Even when I take a bath, The Incredible Mr. Limpet is close.

We love each other!

The Nutcracker

We decided to go to The Nutcracker this year on winter break. I have asked Katie the last few years if she wanted to go, and she wasn't ready for it. This year, she was so excited to go!

 I couldn't wait to see the dancers onstage!

My mom let me choose one keepsake at intermission, and of course I chose the nutcracker! 

 I showed it to Grandma and Aunt Jennifer right away! I loved the ballet!

A Morning with Dolls

On the first day of Katie's winter break, she decided to spend some quality time with her dolls.

I considered a lot of outfits for my dolls before I decided. 

In the end, I chose Elsa dresses. 

I thought it was perfect for the cold weather!
