Like so many other things, Halloween celebrations are going to be different this year. One thing was the same though! Katie got to celebrate Halloween in her dance class when she was given a bag of goodies at the end of class.
I looked over at the couch, and I noticed that Katie and General Washington made a good pair. They were very coordinated!
Before we left the pumpkin patch, we walked over to the hay pyramid. Katie chose not to climb to the top because she wanted to respect the space of others. She's a pretty thoughtful girl!
After the corn maze, of course we had to find the measuring spot. Katie has been measuring herself at this spot most every year since she was one or two. She's getting so tall!
After we picked out our pumpkins, Jennifer and Katie went through the corn maze while I stayed with the pumpkins.
My sister, Jennifer, and I decided to take Katie to the pumpkin patch this year to try to hold onto some traditions during this strange time. The pumpkin patch that we go to was limiting the number of people at any time by requiring reservations. Masks were also required. Since not everyone was observing the mask rule and social distancing, we decided to create our own space. Instead of taking the hay ride, we walked to the pumpkin fields, and we brought bags to carry the pumpkins in instead of using the wheelbarrows. It made us feel better, and we still had fun.
Katie's favorite part of wearing braids through the day is taking them out at night and having wavy hair.
Katie decided to watch the political debate last night and had a lot of thoughts to share throughout.
With school online, Katie spends a lot of time with the computer. She has a much better attitude about being on the computer than I find myself having. I need to learn from her.
The next trick Katie had was making a penny disappear.
When Amazon had their Prime Day Sale, I found some Play-Doh slime that I bought for my class. I had extra, so I gave some to Katie.
Katie and General Washington love each other and enjoy every minute together.
Katie is still working her way through the seasons of Full House and loving every minute of it.
Part of Katie's school day is working on her math facts. We were happily surprised to find her flash cards to help with the process.
Katie loves the toy dog she got last Christmas. She had it out and turned it on, so it would walk toward and bark at Bingle. She wanted to know how Bingle would react, but she didn't give it much thought.
As much as Katie didn't want to go, it was time for getting her annual flu shot. She is brave while she gets the shot, but she usually makes it pretty clear that she doesn't like it.
One of Katie's favorite authors from the time she was small was Mo Willems. To this day, she still appreciates his humor!
Sunday mornings are time for the second cat!
Saturday mornings are for relaxing and spending time with the cats!
Katie had gone over to my sister's house for her school day, and she saw that our voter's pamphlet had arrived in the mail. She was so excited that Jennifer compared it to the old days of when our Christmas catalogue would arrive and we would go through it over and over. Katie went through the pamphlet three times the first morning of having it, looking for the candidates that she would vote for if she was old enough.
One of the gifts that my mom got for her birthday was a set of dominoes. As soon as she could, Katie opened the package and started playing with them!
We usually just get my mom some presents that are from all of us, but Katie specifically wanted to get my mom a book for her birthday. She was so excited to choose a book by an author that my mom loves.
When Katie was at my sister's house, she got into some more virtual reality.

It always makes me so happy when friends share old pictures of Katie with me. This picture was shared with Katie's dancing friend's mom. I love that they have been friends since they were two.

After the smoke finally cleared out of the air, Katie's allergies started bothering her a lot. My sister was nice enough to surprise us with an air purifier to see if it would help.
