When Jennifer came over the other day, Katie decided to have a drawing contest with her. Jennifer had her turn first and then it was Katie's turn.

A Little Bit of Snow

We get excited around here when we just get a tiny bit of snow. Katie was hoping to see some snowflakes, so when the snow started coming, she was so happy!

An Exciting Delivery

Katie received some Amazon gift cards for Christmas and decided to do some shopping with her money.

I used my gift cards and some of my saved money to buy an iPod case, a laser keyboard, and a video game. I was pretty excited for my purchases to be delivered!

Checking Her Flexibility

Every once in a while, Katie makes sure her flexibility is still where it needs to be.

This is a little harder than it used to be, but my toes can still touch my head.

Together Again

 Nothing makes Katie and General Washington happier than being together.

I love to find General Washington when I have wet hair from my bath.

He's always so warm and puts up with my cold hair!

One More Christmas Card

Just when Katie thought no more cards would come, she got one more Christmas card in the mail!

Thanks for the card Uncle Jeff, Aunt Grace, Ian, and Eva! It was so cute!

The Inauguration

Since Katie had been so excited about having a new president, she of course watched the inauguration. It was a good moment for her!

As much as I was excited to see Joe Biden take the oath, I was possibly even more excited to see Kamala Harris take it.

It felt so good to see people who I respect take over this job.

Heading Home

By the time we finished our walk, the sun was setting and it was so pretty!

We thought the sky looked pretty here, but every step we took towards home, the sky got prettier!

A Winter Stroll

Katie is not exactly an outdoorsy girl, but sometimes I can get her to go out on a walk. She's just not always happy about it.

I'm not a fan of cold weather! I'd much rather be inside by the fire!

The Mail Queen

As if Katie's day couldn't get any better, she got a third card in the mail!

Grammy Noreen sent a thank you card, and I've read it a lot!

 After opening the Christmas card from my sister, Katie found a New Year's card from Garyldine and Jim.

Looking Back

Twice a year, I create a book from this blog and give it to Katie. She loves to look back over all of the fun she has had whenever she receives a new book.

I remember this day when I went to see my friend in her play. I miss being with friends!

2020 in Review

 It has been quite a year! Time to look back on it!

January 2020 - I got to go to a birthday breakfast for my friend!

February 2020 - I got to have a sleepover. I didn't know it would be my last sleepover for a really long time.

March 2020 - This was the unexpected snow storm we got the day after schools were closed because of Covid19. 

April 2020 - I liked leaving positive messages around the neighborhood while everyone was staying away from one another.

May 2020 - We had to try to get some pictures by ourselves for Gotcha Day since the photography studio was still shut down with the pandemic.

June 2020 - I got to go to our favorite lake for a picnic and a hike.

July 2020 - I got to pick my first batch of wild blackberries for the year.

August 2020 - I climbed to the top of a mountain!

September 2020 - I turned ten years old!

October 2020 - I found my perfect pumpkin at the pumpkin patch!

November 2020 - This was me when I found out the presidential election had finally been called. I had been waiting a long time for this moment.

December 2020 - I helped make all of our Christmas cookies.

Happy New Year, 2021!

We spent New Year's Eve very much like we do every other year. We mostly don't do anything different than any other night. When it's almost midnight on the east coast, we turn on CNN and celebrate the coming of the new year with the east coast. Then we are in bed long before midnight our time. It's not much, but it's the way we like to celebrate!

Pampering Her Feet

For Christmas, Katie got a foot spa that is filled with water marbles. She was excited to use it for the first time!

Judging the Presidents

Katie was pretty excited to find one of her president books that she had received a year or two ago. She decided to read about each president, so we could decide if we agreed with his politics or not.

First, I read the summary of each president's term.

Then we talked about if we agreed with his policies or not.

Quick Cups

Katie loves her Quick Cups game, and she is usually always the faster one to build her cups into the correct formation.

This game is fast and fun!

Another Gift

When we picked up the mail, Katie had another present waiting for her. She couldn't wait to open it!

Time to Paint

One of Katie's Christmas gifts this year was some "squishies" that she could paint. She was so excited to start painting.

I decided I better protect the table from my paint, so I spread newspapers everywhere.

Time to Relax

By evening, Katie was ready to relax, but she kept her entertainment up close!

I thought I better just hold my Ring Toss game in. case I needed to play again!

The Ring Toss Game

Katie loves her Ring Toss game that my sister, Debby, gave to her. As soon as we could clean some carpet space up, she started playing her game. It's really nice that she loves to play with someone else, but she also loves to play by herself. In addition to just being fun, she gets to practice math at the same time as she adds up all of her points!

When I first started playing, I didn't get a lot of rings around the pegs, but...

...the more I played, the more rings I got on!

Of course since it was a holiday, we pulled out the Snapchat app and enjoyed all the fun filters!
