Katie was so excited to have a sleepover with a friend recently. She got to ride to the sleepover with another friend.

Lunch is one of Katie's favorite times of the day because she gets to spend time with all of her friends.

Catching Up on Books

Wherever you find Katie, you can typically find a book pretty close to her.

I love to play some quiet music and just read. Without cameras is even better!

Calming Music

Katie found some music that she thought would be good for my classroom. It was acoustic Disney music.

I had to find the YouTube channel that my teacher uses.

Friends

Katie has become pretty good friends with the girl she rides the bus with. She meets her every morning halfway to the bus stop and they finish walking there together.

It's fun to have a friend who makes you smile.

Do You Know This?

Katie has been having fun quizzing me on her music lately. She thinks it's so crazy when I don't know the songs she listens to all the time.

I can always find songs that my mom doesn't know.

Playful Art

Katie has lots of friends, but when her friends aren't around, she has some artistic "friends" to keep her company. At first, she drew two girls on paper, cut them out, and carried them around with her as her "friends." It started as a joke with her real friends, but soon became creative fun. When these two "girls" got worn out, she created a new friend.

Right now this little bee is my "friend."

Sick Again

Katie got sick again over the weekend. She was hoping it was just allergies, but she has a terrible cold.

All I really feel like doing is lying down with my blanket and squishmallow!

An Old Picture

I was going through my old pictures and was reminded how Katie has always loved drawing. One of my favorite drawings was when she drew a picture of me around the time she was in kindergarten.

My drawings have changed a lot over the years!

So Close

After Mr. Limpet returned home in January, he spends so much time on our laps, sitting as close as possible.

I will always welcome Mr. Limpet to my lap.

Sketching

I asked Katie to teach me an easy way to draw a wolf's head for a poster I was making for school. She quickly got to work.

Here were the options I came up with.

Putting Together Outfits

Katie has been contemplating what her style is. While she continues to do that, she has fun trying to put together different outfits with the clothes in her closet.

I liked how this outfit turned out.

The Cats

Katie always likes it when the cats spend time together. 

The cats look so cute when they share a space!

After Dance Class

Katie went to dance class this week with her very sore leg muscles and then had to work those same muscles for another hour. When she got home, all she wanted to do was put her feet up and relax.

Mr. Limpet joined me for some relaxing time.

Learning a Dance

Katie spent this weekend learning a dance that her friend found on TikTok. She showed me the video, and my leg muscles hurt just by watching it. It was hard, but she didn't give up until she learned it.

This dance has so many moments that take place close to the floor. After learning it, my leg muscles were completely sore for days!

More Drawing

When Katie does her art, she prefers to draw in sketch books, but she will also draw on her Chromebook. She got a tool at Christmas to make electronic sketching easier.

Aunt Jennifer was over, and the cats always love to lie on her coat!

Just Some Sketching

I love when Katie shares her sketching with me.

I've been working on this same character for a bit.

Protectors

Katie saw a bug in the house the other day, and she escaped to her bedroom. The cats quickly took charge and hunted the bug down.

Mr. Limpet and General Washington were my heroes.

A New Food

Katie had never tried cheesecake, and she decided she was brave enough to try a piece when we went to The Cheesecake Factory.

Before I ever try things, I have to inspect them closely.

I thought it was good, and I thought it tasted like pumpkin pie. No one else understood that. My mom thought maybe it was the flavor of the crust that made me think that.

Working Away

Just like most kids, Katie doesn't love homework, but she does seem to enjoy making slideshows for presentations. It's just up her alley of interest.

I thought of new ideas for my group's slideshow one night, so I made the changes on a weekend.

Katie's Coat

I think I've said it before, but Katie is allergic to cat dander. She takes over-the-counter medicine, which controls it, but she can't usually be in a tight area with the cats for long. However when Mr. Limpet found Katie's fleece-lined jacket, he couldn't help but curl up in it for the night.

I worried about sneezing the next day at school, but it wasn't as bad as I thought.

The Results

Katie loved how her hair looked after her haircut.

I liked that my hair wasn't too short. It felt so soft after I got it cut!

A Haircut

Did you guess? Jennifer took Katie for a haircut.

I hadn't had a haircut for a long time. I had to get some of it trimmed off!

Going with Jennifer

Katie was excited to head somewhere with my sister. Where could they have been going?

It's always fun when I'm with Aunt Jennifer!

For a Friend

One of Katie's best friends was about to turn twelve. As a gift, Katie planned out and created an animated video for her. It took her hours, but it came directly from the heart.

After sketching out scene by scene, I started doing the digital work.

Change

One night Katie was lying in my bed talking, and she wanted to show off her seeds. She was so excited at the changes.

I am taking my responsibility as seed caregiver very seriously.

It's exciting to see them changing!

A Blast from the Past

We saw that Mannequin was on HBO, so I suggested to Katie that we watch it. She really wasn't impressed. She did find the 80s fashion entertaining though.

I couldn't quite get past a man falling in love with a mannequin who sometimes changes to a human!

Being Stuck

After the snowstorm, we were stuck at home for several days. Katie decided she had no interest in playing in the snow this time. She just wanted to enjoy the snow from inside the house.

I enjoyed staying warm inside!
