Robin Nests

During our day of learning about robins, we found some online informational books about robins and bird nests. Then on our walks, Katie collected materials that she thought would make a good birds nest. Later, she tried to build a nest with her supplies. She gained a much deeper appreciation for birds who can build nests without hands.

I found some flexible weeds as well as some sticks and moss. 

I realized pretty quickly that these sticks weren't very helpful. 

I tried to make the bottom of my nest soft, so I piled some leaves at the bottom. 

I realized that it's really hard to build a nest and have it keep its shape. 

 I tried to use the sticks to push the weeds into the corners to see if it would help hold its shape.

I didn't think it looked too bad in the end!
