Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Dressing Pooh

As Katie has become more independent, she has been more and more interested in dressing herself. With that interest, she also likes to put clothes on Winnie the Pooh.

Here's a sock for you.

Let's add a dress.

I found some more clothes for you.

I know this bib goes up here somewhere.

You look perfect!

Cleaning the Fish Tank

Katie still likes to watch me clean the fish tank, but almost more than that, she likes to sit on the step stool that I use while I clean the tank. Every time I go to dump the dirty water, up climbs Katie.

You don't want my chair, do you?

Katie's New Cousin

We were thrilled this week when my brother and his wife had their new baby boy on Thursday. He's so cute!  Katie really likes to look at his pictures, point, and say her version of "baby." I wish we were close enough to visit!  Welcome to the family, Ian!

6 pounds, 14 ounces of cuteness!

Worth the wait!

I love him already!

Looking for a Snake

As I opened the shade on one of the windows, I looked outside and saw a snake slithering into the weeds. After announcing what I found, Katie came running over to see, but by then, the snake was long gone. I took Katie on a small walk outside to see if there was any sign of that snake or another snake. (She's been pretty interested in snakes ever since she saw the first one this summer.)  We didn't find any snakes, but Katie had fun nonetheless.

It always feels funny to walk up a steep hill.

Thanks for bringing me outside!

I haven't found a snake, but I found a pile of rocks!

Isn't it fun to chase a shadow?

I'm going to miss this nice weather when it gets colder.

I'm so happy that I'll just dance.

You can come dance, too!

Here I go back to my stage.

Dancing and Singing

What now?

My favorite tree has something new for me to pick up!

This is great!

I chose one for Grandma and one for Aunt Jennifer.

It's amazing! These weren't here last time I looked.

I love nature!

Katie is a Busy Girl

Over the weekend, Katie kept herself very busy. Here are some of her adventures.

I'm going to find something to do!

Hmm…should I find one of the pets?

If I sit still and don't make eye contact, she might not notice me.

Here, Bingle! I took my bow out, so you could wear it!

This is so undignified!

Let me help you put it back on.

This time don't let it fall out.

How did all of that macaroni come out of this bag?

Now that the macaroni is cleaned up, what can I play with?

There has to be something!

I found Aunt Jennifer's water bottle!

It's always fun to lick around the rim!

Do you want a drink?

Doing Things Her Way

We took Katie out to eat. We had teriyaki, while she had fried rice. Even though I provided Katie with a spoon that was her size, she insisted on using a Chinese soup spoon.

This is a great spoon for scooping food. I don't need that yellow one!

Yep…perfect!

Can I Help?

The day after Chloe's bath, her hair had finally dried enough to be combed - a process she hates much more than her bath. Katie saw Jennifer combing Chloe, and she immediately wanted to help. Luckily she held the brush backwards, so Chloe didn't feel a thing. The minute the comb was turned the right way, I distracted Katie with something else to do.

It looks like you could use my help.

I'll just pull this hair clump out.

Doesn't this feel good, Chloe?
