Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A Girl's Gotta Have a Bag

Lately, Katie always has to take some sort of bag whenever we take her shopping.

I really had to have my backpack when we went to the grocery store.

I took a fancy Valentine gift bag to the pet store with me.

Choice of Words

Sometimes Katie makes me laugh when things come out of her mouth. One night, she decided to feed Chloe a Goldfish Cracker. As Chloe ate it, she proudly told Chloe, "Congratulations, dear!" It sounded so funny. Although my family cares about one another a lot, we don't go around calling each other, "Dear."

Once Chloe impressed Katie, Katie had my mom feed Chloe crackers, so she could take pictures of Chloe eating.

There's a cracker, Chloe.

Congratulations, dear!

Making Peanut Butter Cookies

Katie and I decided to make some peanut butter cookies one day for fun. Katie always loves to help cook, so she was excited to grab her chef's hat and apron that she uses in her kitchen. She quickly got up on a chair to help me every step of the way.

I knew we had to have peanut butter.

My mom still has her Junior Cookbook from when she was small.

The peanut butter mixture was sure sticky.

I took a break once in a while for my mom to stir the dough.

It was a lot easier to stir the dry ingredients.

My mom showed me how to make the balls of dough.

My favorite part was making the fork imprints on the cookies.

When I got tired of making the ball shapes, my mom gave me some dough for my plate. I flattened it just like I do with my Play-Doh.

I ate some of the uncooked cookie dough - even though we knew I shouldn't. I thought it tasted delicious. I explained to everyone, "It tastes like strawberry cream!" (She has never tasted strawberry cream, but I guess it was her best explanation.)

I was happy to see the finished product! I love to cook!

Doing Some Yoga

For Christmas this year, I got Katie a subscription to Chirp, a magazine for 3-6 year olds. She was excited when her first issue came, and it was full of stories, craft ideas, and more. One story was about yoga. Katie quickly convinced Aunt Jennifer to be her yoga partner and she tried out her new moves.

A Flower Princess

When we were stuck in the house with the ice storm, Katie decided to play dress-up. She wanted to be a Flower Princess, which meant that she wanted to wear her flower costume that she's worn for over a year. I told her that she might not be able to fit in it since she's been growing so fast. She assured me that she still wanted to wear it. It has definitely become quite short, but she still has a good time in it. She sang and danced and performed a lot of "Show-Shows!"

I knew I could still squeeze into my costume!

I love to be a flower princess!

Time for a dance!

It was cold outside, but dancing kept me warm inside!

I love to be on my tippy toes.

I'm almost done with this dance.

Ta-daaaa!

A Big Girl Hair Cut

Katie went with my mom and Garyldine when they got their hair cut. Their hairdresser, Nikki, is nice enough to take the time to trim some of Katie's hair once in a while. It has been nice because Katie is so comfortable going there. In fact, she feels left out if her hair isn't trimmed. When she got home, she let me know that she had a "big girl hair cut."

I was ready to start.

I like to sit here and look at myself in the mirror!

Nikki is always nice to me.

I knew it was an important hair cut when I got clips in my hair.

I made sure to sit really still.

All done! Thank you, Nikki!

A Castle

Katie got a new bath toy to go along with her Little Mermaid dolls. It has been a great toy. It was inexpensive, it holds her attention, and she plays with it in and out of the tub.

I love my new bath toy.

It has a lever on the side. When I push it, my mermaid goes down the slide.

Can I take a bath?

It also came with a little tiara that I can wear.
