Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Outside Happiness

I know I've said it before, but Katie gets so happy with warm weather. A while ago, we went outside to water the flowers. Katie did that happily, and then she started dancing. The driveway was her stage. She danced and danced and danced and told me that she was going to dance all night. She didn't have a care in the world. It was a sight of pure enjoyment.

During Katie's dance session, she said something to a tree across the street, and for the first time, she heard her voice echo. "I heard me talk again! Did you hear me?" That was followed by lots of shouting and echoing.

I'm done watering flowers.

I really don't want to go in though.

I've got to check the flowers on my tree.

More importantly, I have to dance!

I love to dance!

I discovered that I could make my voice echo.

Playing outside equals happiness!

I made up a new song to go with my dance.

My song had one line over and over.
"Up like a tree! Stop!"
Then I would pose like a tree and hold my pose.

Enjoying the Nice Weather

New Shoes

Since Katie's feet insist on continuing to grow, it was time for new shoes. We headed to Stride Rite, and for the first time, Katie was very insistent on the shoes she wanted. It wasn't very surprising that she picked princess shoes. She found Ariel and Aurora shoes that put a great big smile on her face.

When we got home, I tried to take a picture of her wearing her shoes. She didn't want to get a picture. Instead, she practiced her tiptoe skills. She gets up on those tiptoes pretty high!

I love my new Ariel shoes, and it's easy to stand on my tiptoes in them!

A Bigger Haircut

In the past, Katie has had small hair trims. She recently got more of a haircut and had about two inches taken off. She was excited to show me her new haircut even though it's not extremely noticeable. She was proud of it!

I love to look in the mirror when I sit here.

I tried hard to fallow directions and keep my head down though.

Look at all of that hair that was cut off!

Welcome, Kai!

Kai was coming over for a play date, and like always, Katie couldn't wait to see him. While we were finding clothes for the day, Katie insisted on wearing her Cinderella costume. "Kai wants to see it! He loves when I'm a princess!"

I love to stay close to Kai whenever he is around.

He likes to have tea, just like me!

Kai loved to press the button on my dress that plays my Cinderella song.

I don't know if my Sesame Street balloon moved so fast from Kai or if it was from my magic spell!

I didn't feel overdressed at all!

We did some cooking. I protected my dress with my apron, and I shared my chef's hat with Kai.

He tried both of my hats.

In the end, we each wore one. Mine fit over my tiara quite well!

New Fish for a New Aquarium

After letting our aquarium sit for a few days with the water, we had the water tested. Katie was so excited at the thought of being able to move her fish into the aquarium. It was a sad moment when we found out that our water wasn't quite ready for fish. We waited some more, and the second time we had our water tested, we had success. The water was ready for fish.

Since we were down to only four small fish, I let Katie also choose some new fish for the aquarium. I wasn't the least bit surprised when she found some pink fish that she had to have. She carefully carried her three new fish home, and while they adjusted to the water, she fished our old fish out of the bucket. I thought she'd need help catching the fish, but she was better than me at catching them.

It was fun to release the fish into the new aquarium. We've done lots of fish-watching!

I was so happy to find pink fish at the pet store!

I didn't understand why the bag had to sit in our aquarium for 20 minutes. I wanted to just get the fish out.

I caught all of our old fish, so they could move to the pretty aquarium.

Then we just waited for the fish to adjust to the water temperature.

I let the fish out, and they were happy to have a new home.

A Favorite Tree

After a big rainstorm one night, we walked out in front of our house the next day to find quite the surprise. Katie responded, "My tree! It's sad!" I agreed. The tree did look sad. I checked it out, and it isn't broken anywhere. It's just bent. As the weather has dried up some, the tree has straightened up a little but not all of the way. We'll see how long it lasts before it has to be removed.

I miss my happy tree!

Sharing Valuables

You can always tell that Katie loves something when she's willing to share one of her most valued treasures with that something! One day I walked over to Katie's table to see a funny sight.

I love Cinderella, so I let her wear my earmuffs!
