Spreading Easter Cheer

Jennifer's friend, Michele, brought her son to our house last year to tell Katie the story of the Easter turtle. This year, the turtle dropped some Easter eggs for Katie at Michele's house. It also brought some tulips for Katie to pass out to others to spread Easter cheer.

Michele and her son, Tim, brought the flowers to our house, and then Tim hid the eggs around the house for Katie to go on an Easter egg hunt. Katie was thrilled to find princess accessories inside the eggs, and she was thrilled to be able to give others the flowers. She loves giving gifts!

I took Aunt Jennifer on my Easter egg hunt with me. The Easter turtle sure knew what I liked!

After I got ready for bed, I wore my new princess gloves, so I'd look like Cinderella. 

Then I showed off part of my new jewelry. Thanks for the special delivery, Michele and Tim!

Coloring Easter Eggs

We colored our Easter eggs on Saturday as we prepared for the Easter bunny to come. Katie was excited to do anything related to Easter. With all of her excitement for it, I have to say she was very patient as she waited for the eggs to cool enough to put in the dye. She was very proud of the colorful eggs in the end.

I wanted to do everything this year with the eggs! 

I carefully laid each egg in the pan to cook. 

Then I spread out all of our egg cups. 

The wax crayon always seems funny to me for some reason. 

We put the tablets in the cups. 

Then we added glitter to some of our cups. 

After all of that, I waited and waited and waited while the eggs sat in the dye. 

When the eggs came out, they looked beautiful! 

My favorite egg was the blue one right in the middle. It reminded me of Elsa. 

I was happy when I got to eat one of the colored eggs. It was delicious!

Easter Happenings

As we were leading up to Easter this year, I decided to get Katie's portraits taken since she didn't have Christmas portraits this past year. The picture studio that we go to had special Easter portraits with a live bunny. Katie was more than excited to meet her bunny friend, Peter.

Bingle Wants a Story

After our trip, Katie decided that she was very much a care-taker of Bingle. She always liked to find Bingle in the morning and trap her in the bedroom. One morning she announced, "Bingle wants a story. She loves princesses just like me!" (I'm sure she does!)

I love to read to pets!

Good to Be Home

After we got up so early the first day of being home, Katie went straight to her toys and played and played and played. As much as she loves vacations, she is always glad to have all of her toys back.

It was fun to play with my dollhouse again!

Trying to Get Home

Before we had left the park, we received the news that both of our flights on the way home had been cancelled due to the ice storm in Dallas. As I finally got Katie in bed that night, Jennifer was on hold with our airline. She ended up staying up all night waiting for someone to answer the phone - which they never did. Around 6:00, we decided to pack up and make our way to the airport, so we could at least talk to someone about rescheduling our flight.

We waited in a long line, but at least we had a nice person to talk to when we got there. She got us rescheduled on a flight on a different airline, but the flight wouldn't be leaving until after 7:00 that night. We were all tired from lack of sleep the night before, and the last thing we wanted to do was to sit in the airport with our luggage all day long for over eleven hours.

Luckily for us, Orlando has a hotel in their airport. We decided to get a room for the day, and it was the best decision we made for the whole trip. We were all able to sleep a little and relax without being tied to our luggage.

Our new flight was a cross country flight all the way to Seattle. We were all separated except for Katie and me. She slept about halfway through the flight. She stayed in a good mood though. She just thought the flight would take forever and ever!

Luckily, Jennifer's friends, Michele and Ralph, were willing to take the lengthy drive to pick us up in Seattle. Otherwise we would have had to get another hotel room for the night because we were too tired to make the trip ourselves. We were so thankful to them.

We walked into our house at 2:20 that morning, and by the time we got into bed, it was about 3:00. Unlike Katie, I have a hard time sleeping on planes, so I was so glad to see my bed that night. A very, very short three hours later, Katie woke me up with a huge smile and said, "The sky's awake! Time to get up!" There we were…back to real life!

We had to do a lot of waiting while we tried to get home.

The Electrical Parade and Fireworks

After seeing Ariel, Katie and I rushed to catch up with everyone else to see the Electrical Parade. We almost made it to where they were sitting, but the road was blocked for the parade that was coming, so we just stood where we were and watched from a different corner. It would have been nice to be with everyone else, but at least we saw the whole parade. Katie loved the lights on everything. Her favorite part of the parade was when Snow White walked over to the crowd and said hello to her. We had such a good time!

We caught up to everyone else after the parade, and then Jennifer and I went on The Haunted Mansion ride. By the time we got out of the ride, the fireworks were already starting, so Jennifer and I stopped to watch them. It sounds like we ended up with a better viewing area then the others. They had some firework litter raining on them as they watched.

I loved seeing Cinderella in her pumpkin carriage! 

We saw lots of people dancing in the parade. They were all lit up! 

Then we saw Peter Pan and Captain Hook on the ship. 

Pinocchio was there, and... 

…so was Pete's dragon.

The parade ended with an eagle and the American flag. I love parades!

I always like the fireworks! 

Before we said good-bye to everyone, we took one last picture together! I loved the whole week!
