Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A Surprise Birthday Gift

A few days after Katie's birthday, one of my co-workers told me that her daughter had wanted to go shopping to get Katie a birthday gift. Katie was so happy!

I couldn't believe when I got a bonus gift!

I loved my Tsum-Tsums!

Let's Get Married

One afternoon, Katie saw that Sadie was sleeping on the couch. She decided to dress herself up in a princess gown and marry Sadie, who was obviously longing to play the role as Katie's prince.

First, I had to design a princess wedding gown.

Then I told my prince I was ready for our wedding.

Weddings are fun!

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Katie loves to celebrate anyone's birthday. Why not start a special day with a song?

Happy Birthday!

Make-Up at its Best

One of Katie's birthday presents this year was a make-up kit. She was supposed to be getting a fun, Snow White themed make-up set in the shape of an apple. However, when she opened it up, I discovered that it wasn't the toy make-up that hardly shows. It was the real thing. She was so excited that I couldn't take it away from her, but it has been put away for special occasions since her day of fun with it!

This is how I first looked when my mom first saw that I had put some of my make-up on.

I thought I needed some lip gloss to go with my fancy lip liner.

I felt beautiful already, but...

…I thought my cheeks needed more color.

A little more make-up is always a good thing.

Perfect! I don't know why my mom gave me a bath right after this.

Later in the day, I started over again!

This time, I went for a smoky eye!

Does anyone want to hire me as a make-up artist?

A Self-Portrait

One afternoon, Katie drew a self-portrait for my mom. "This is so you won't forget what I look like!"

This is exactly how I look!

Trying on Glasses

My mom was getting a new pair of glasses, and Katie wanted to get in on the action, so she decided to try on some frames.

I...

…really...

…want...

…to...

…have...

…everything...

…that...

…Grandma...

…has!

A New Dance Class

This fall, Katie started her first dance class that has a range of ages in it. It's a class for 5-7 year olds, and there are more girls in the class than she's ever had before. She has lots of reasons to be happy about it.

1. She feels grown up since there are older kids in her class.
2. Her teacher is the teacher that she started dancing with three years ago, Ms. Moriah.
3. She met another student who was also adopted from China.
4. Her "dancing friend" is still in her class, and they have a lot of fun together!

It always makes me happy when I get to practice my balance.

I try hard to look like a ballerina.

I have a big class this year!
