Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Play-Doh

It never gets old to play with Play-Doh. There's so much creating to be done!

One of my favorite things to do is to design princess dresses!

A Happy Surprise

We had to stop at the store one night, and Katie was so happy to run into Jim!

I love seeing people I know!

That's Katie

Kids all rest in different ways. For Katie, she has always enjoyed resting in a squatting position. It's just her thing.

I just decided to take a short rest while I waited for my turn in dancing.

A New Pet

Ever since Katie's last fish died, she has wanted to set up her fish tank with new fish. Last weekend, we were at the pet store, and Katie once again asked for fish. Since her tank wasn't set up for new fish yet, I let her get a Betta fish and told her she could keep it at Jennifer's house. I just knew Jennifer would be as thrilled as Katie!

I wanted to help set up the tank for my new fish.

I carefully put rocks in the bottom.

Then I added the water.

Last, I added my fish, which I promptly named Alexander!

Learning to Braid

Katie loves for us to braid her dolls' hair. She decided that she wanted to learn how to braid, so she didn't have to ask us anymore. I was shocked at how quickly she took it on.

The trickiest part was learning how to hold my hands.

I thought Rapunzel's braid looked so good that...

...I braided Barbie's hair too!

Learning to Jump Rope

Katie has had a big interest in jump roping lately. After trying it at school, she was excited to remember that she had a jump rope in her play room at Jennifer's. She got it and brought it to the living room and practiced and practiced. Surprisingly, the dogs just watched and didn't interfere. Her jump rope was a little long for her height, but it didn't deter her.

I'd swing the rope around me as fast could and hope to jump over it!

It felt fantastic when it worked!

Not Quite a President

Last summer, we saw that Caroline Kennedy was coming to town to give a speech. When I told Katie that she was President Kennedy's daughter, of course she wanted to go and see her. We headed into town on a school night to watch her presentation, but Katie was able to sleep on the way there and on the way home, so she wasn't tired for school the next day.

Katie listened to the whole speech, but the parts that stuck with her the most were the stories that she heard about Caroline Kennedy's memories of living in the White House. Her favorite story was hearing about how Carline could call Santa Claus whenever she wanted to when she lived there.

When I was on the way into the auditorium, I found a saxophone-playing cow! How funny!

I was so excited to see a president's daughter!

I got to sit in between my mom and Aunt Jennifer.

While we waited for things to start, I borrowed my mom's phone and took my own pictures.

I liked the ceiling, so I took a picture of that.

I also tried an upside down picture right before the speakers began!
Thank you, Caroline Kennedy, for entertaining me!
