Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Checking on the Caterpillars

After Katie saw all of the caterpillars munching away when we went blackberry picking, she didn't want to forget about them. After a couple of days, we headed back to where we had seen them. They had eaten all of the leaves off of the weed we had found them on, and they were working on the leaves nearby. She has had so much fun watching them!

The caterpillars are very busy right now!

I started taking a notebook to take notes on my observations.

Making Bracelets

When Katie was getting ready for her cousins to visit, she decided to make each of them a rubber band bracelet. She carefully chose colors for each bracelet and got to work. The funny thing is that she forgot to give them the bracelets when they were here!

You have to be patient to make a bracelet out of these little rubber bands.

A Lava Lamp

At Christmas, Katie got a kit to make her own lava lamp. It somehow got piled under some other things and was forgotten about until recently when it was uncovered. Of course, it was the perfect time to make a lava lamp!

I'm always excited to start a new project!

First I had to add glitter to the bottle.

Then I added vegetable oil, water, and food coloring.

Finally, the lid went back on.

Then it was time to try it! It was a success!

A Problem Solver

Katie wanted to make slime. again, and she realized that we didn't have any liquid glue. Instead of giving up, she looked up different ways of making slime that didn't involve glue.

I made mint green slime and didn't use any glue!

Checking on the Blackberries

We knew it was almost blackberry season around here, so we decided to go check the progress. There weren't many blackberries ready for picking, but they weren't far away!

We used to mostly pick the berries right next to our house, but some of the bushes were cut back, so now we walk behind the house about a block.

In a few weeks, I'll be able to fill this bin quickly.

Grandma helped find some of the ripe berries.

Even though there weren't a lot of berries ready, it was fun to check.

Of course, I always like to look at the wild flowers that are mixed with the berries!

I was excited about even getting a few berries.

My mom and I were very excited about this weed that we saw because there were so many caterpillars up and down the branches that were filling up on the leaves. Can you find them?

The berries will be ready soon!

On the way back to the house, I decided I would check our nearby bushes too.

I didn't find many berries, but I found some of my favorite daisies!

Summer days are so much fun!

Visiting the Lake

We decided to go walk around one of the local lake on a nice weekend day. It was fun that my mom joined us too!

I always have fun when Grandma comes with us!

It was the perfect day to be out.

The trees always look so big!

While we rested, I pulled out my bird book and tried to identify the birds we were seeing! It was fun!

A Birthday Party

Katie got to go to her friend, Ella's, birthday party again recently. She had so much fun!

Thanks for having me over to celebrate!
