Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A New Hat

Katie found a new hat this weekend. She didn't end up liking it as much as her pencil bag though!

What do you think?

Here…you can try it on!

Picking Blackberries

Summer always comes to an end way too quickly. There are hard things about summer ending like having to go back to work after spending a couple of months at home with Katie. However, we found a good thing to celebrate about this time of year…fresh blackberries.

After a day of meetings for work, I took Katie outside to pick blackberries. We're lucky to have wild blackberry bushes running alongside our house.  I thought Katie would be part of the experience, but I didn't think she would pick many berries since the bushes are so prickly. However, after she got one taste of the berries, she wanted to pick some herself. It turned into a delicious blackberry-eating night for her!

Here's a rock for you before we start!

Wow! A whole cupful of berries!

These are delicious!

Here I come to help, Grandma!

Do you mind if I hold your leg, so I don't fall into the bush?

Look at this berry treasure!

No one will notice if I just eat them instead of putting them in the cup.

I'll take those!

I have a mouthful of berries!

Everyone should try these!

Just Like Grandma

One of my mom's favorite things to do is the crossword puzzle in the newspaper. The other day, Katie found the crossword puzzle before my mom had finished it. She did her best to complete the puzzle!

Chloe is my good luck charm when I'm doing my crossword puzzle!

Puzzles are fun! Now I know why Grandma likes them.

Just getting my pencil again.

Checking on the Fish

It was time to clean the fish tank last weekend. Katie watched carefully as each step was taken. When the tank was clean, she checked to make sure the fish were all still there.

Enjoy your clean tank!

Who Needs a Diaper?

The other day, Katie decided that Winnie the Pooh needed a diaper, so she took charge!

I think this is everything we need.

I guess I'll give you some lotion.

There! Is that right?

I think he looks funny!

I found some extra diapers!

Here you go!

Let's try this again!

Still doesn't look right.

Well, I know how to get it on my head!

Now you're looking better!

Fun at Grandma's and Grandpa's

The other night, we went over to look at my parent's new couch. We, or I should say Jennifer, was also helping our parents go through some of their old things to determine which things could be given to Goodwill.  Katie kept herself busy giving my dad anything she could get her hands on and enjoying one of Jennifer's childhood books.

What do you think, Aunt Jennifer? I like this couch!

Here's a box for you, Grandpa.

C'mon, Winnie! Let's take another box to Grandpa!

Here you go, Grandpa! Where do you want it?

Where's Katie?

I brought you some garbage bags.

Peek-a-Boo!

Do you need this remote control?

Here's a pencil for you!

I want to sit by Grandma.

This is perfect!

Look at this house I found!

I like it!

Hey, Max! What are you doing in here?

I love Aunt Jennifer's old cat book!

Meow!

Why?

Why does Katie refuse to wear almost any hat that I put on her head, yet she's perfectly fine wearing the pencil bag that she puts on her head? It's not a one-time thing either. The pencil bag goes on her head almost every time it's out!

I like this look!
