Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Sitka, Alaska

The day after seeing Glacier Bay, we docked in Sitka, Alaska. The day started out with a cloudy cover, but it quickly turned into another clear and warm day.  At Sitka, the water was too shallow for our cruise ship to be right next to the land, so we ended up dropping anchor a distance from shore, and we took tender boats into town. It was a new experience for all of us. As we made our way to shore, it was fun to see fish jumping out of the water over and over.

We ended up just walking through the town with no formal tour. Sitka has a large Russian culture.  We ended up visiting the Russian Bishop's House and St. Michael's Cathedral, the Russian Orthadox Church. We also went to a little Russian-themed store where Katie got an Alaskan ABC book and a small toy. It was a relaxing and nice day.

When we got back to the cruise ship, we took pictures of the surroundings from the top deck before we took off for the next location.

That evening, Jennifer captured some pictures of Katie dancing on the stage on the Lido deck. It became a nightly routine.

Our cruise ship didn't look quite as big from shore!

I liked the lighthouse in the background.

Welcome to Sitka!

This was the church we visited.

We found another bear!

I had to have a small snack halfway through town.
Do you see Aunt Jennifer's big boot in the background? She calls herself "Frankenfoot."

This was the bridge in town.

We were headed back down to the tender boat.

We took time for a picture though.

I liked how the water looked.

Again, we had beautiful views!

I was excited to see the small sea plane take off. It sure was loud though.

We thought it would be nice to live on one of those islands.

I found the lounge chairs again.

Sometimes a smile needs a little help.

We watched the tender boats being raised back up on the ship.

This was my small dancing stage.

I was in my element up there!

It's always good to twirl.

Twirl, twirl, twirl!

Ta-daaa!

What did you think?
