Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Chinese New Year - Year of the Dragon

I dressed Katie up in her traditional Chinese outfit for Chinese New Year. She was still able to wear the same dress she wore for the red couch photo in China. At least her shoes stayed on this time since they weren't so big on her!

Do you want to play with this camera I found?

How about some blankets if you don't want the camera?

Peace at last!

Still Loving Her Books

Katie's morning starts off every day with her basket of books. She usually wants to "read" her books herself before she has an adult read the books of her choice. It's funny to watch her. By the end of the morning, most (if not all) of her books are scattered around her.

The First Snowfall

We got a little bit of snow this week. Katie loved it! When she first saw the big snowflakes through her window, she kept pointing and laughing at them. She reacted as though the snowflakes were bubbles. When we first took her outside, she held her finger out to "pop" the snowflakes like her bubbles.

Once we got enough snow to stick, Katie went out to experience walking in the snow - - well more like slush. She enjoyed that as well, especially stomping around in the driveway, the area with the most slush.

What is all of this?

I love to see my footprints!

Katie in her lamb hat! Jennifer hates the hat and thinks it's mean to put it on Katie, but I think it's cute!

The Art of Sharing

Katie is learning the fine art of sharing thanks to Chloe and Bingle. Bingle loves to share food with Katie, and Katie happily eats beside her.  She has a more difficult time sharing with Chloe because Chloe likes to share Katie's toys.

It has been hard to get Chloe to understand what belongs to her and what doesn't. Before Katie was here, every toy, for the most part, belonged to Chloe. One of Chloe's favorite toys is stuffed animals with plastic eyes. She immediately chews the eyes out of the toy and spits them out on the floor. Katie wasn't very happy when Chloe found her favorite stuffed animal. Needless to say, it's now without eyes!

Katie has also been going to the dentist for "happy visits" to accustom herself to the surroundings and people. The dentist gave her a toothbrush, so she'd get used to holding it. Katie loved walking around the house with her toothbrush. That is until Chloe got the toothbrush and broke it. The look Katie gave Chloe was priceless.

Even though sharing doesn't always come easy, Katie still loves Chloe and Bingle to pieces!  They provide lots of entertainment for her!

Oops..dropped my cereal. Good thing Bingle will help clean it up!

That's my toothbrush!

The picture's a little fuzzy, but clearly shows how Katie felt about Chloe taking the toothbrush!
