Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Meeting Aunt Debby

My sister, Debby, and her friend, Dino, came out to visit. Katie was very excited to meet them for the first time. We tried to show them some of our favorite places while they were here.

Aunt Debby was lots of fun! I was her buddy everywhere we went! I had gone to the dentist that morning, and my dentist let me choose matching dinosaur necklaces for myself and Aunt Debby!

I've never posed for a picture with Smokey Bear.

We took Aunt Debby and Dino to see Mt. St. Helens! (You might notice that my earmuffs that I like to sometimes wear as a belt made a reappearance for their visit.)

As we were heading back towards our car, I got to see a helicopter taking off. It was a new experience for me, and I loved it!

After dinner, Aunt Debby wanted to show off her dinosaur necklace.

Then we went home and Aunt Debby looked at books with me.

Before they left, Aunt Jennifer and I (the short ones in the family) posed with Dino (the tall one). He's really tall!

Before I went to bed, I painted my nails with the blue nail polish Aunt Debby brought me.

After the Show

As long as we were in the city, we decided to go out to dinner and take a short walk. It was a nice way to end the afternoon!

Why are you taking my picture while we're in a restaurant?

We were full after our meal, so we took a walk along the river.

I found some blackberry bushes, and...

…some pretty flowers!

I made a request to stop at one more place. Can you guess where?

Cavalia Odysseo

My sister, Jennifer, heard about a show that was coming to town called Cavalia Odysseo. It was a show that involved trained horses, equestrian artists, and acrobats. It was amazing to see the grace of all of the performers - people and animals alike. We loved it!

It was exciting to see the huge tent for the show!

I couldn't wait to see the horses!

My mom even let me get a stuffed horse at the show. I quickly named her Melody Eliana!

This is a trailer of the show. I want to go again!

Official Dance Photo

Katie's official dance pictures for her 2016 recital finally arrived.

I enjoyed being a blue bird!

Make-Up Artist

I saw that Katie was busy at her vanity again. I wasn't surprised she had put make-up on herself. I was surprised at what else she did.

Having a vanity to sit at is fun!

When my mom came over, she saw Elsa's make-up.

How do we look?

Summer Dance

Katie has begun her summer dance class. It always seems a bit more laid back in the summer. Maybe it's the smaller classes. Whatever it is, Katie loves it!

I always like when my class is a little smaller.

I was happy to get back to dancing after a couple of weeks off!

Who wouldn't love coming?

Dolls

Katie loves her dolls and loves any accessories she has for those dolls. She has quite an imagination and enjoys making up story lines for the dolls.

My dolls (some with crazy hair) are having a nice dinner out.

Fun with Yarn

Katie was in the basement playing when she found a roll of yarn. She had never had any experience with one of those, and it didn't take long to unravel a lot! When she saw it was unraveled and tangled, she thought she better make something out of it.

Do you like my new, beautiful necklace?

Out Shopping

We took Katie out shopping with us, and we went to one of her favorite stores - Pier 1. She loves to try out the furniture in there, and she can always find something sparkly.

I think I need this chair!

How do you like this sparkly mask I found?

Just a Moment

Sometimes I just happen to catch a moment with Katie, where her grace shines. She sure doesn't get it from me!

Maybe dancing has trained me to stand like this.

Carpet Cleaning

It was time to get our carpets cleaned again, so we decided to move the dogs and their kennels into the garage. We knew if we just left them out there to hear all of the action in the house that they would bark, so we had Katie "dogsit." She sat out in the garage with the dogs, playing with Play-Doh and talking and singing to the dogs. It was very helpful while it lasted.

I enjoyed taking care of the dogs as long as I could leave the door to the house cracked open, so I wouldn't miss anything!

A Trip to the Vet

We had to take Sadie to the vet. It's always hard to take Sadie anywhere because she has an enormous amount of anxiety when she leaves the house for anything. She always relies on Katie to protect her from anything bad.

Sadie wouldn't leave my lap all the way to the vet!

A New Pair of Lips

Katie found a container of lip gloss and was happy to have a new pair of lips!

I think these are beautiful!

An Unfortunate Event

When Katie came home from getting her hair cut, she was so excited and happy that she went out to dance on our rock-paved driveway to celebrate. In all of her twirling, she lost her balance, fell on the rocks, and got scraped up. Nothing that some Frozen Band-Aids couldn't fix.

The bumpy driveway isn't my friend!

A New Haircut

Katie has been very excited to get her hair cut, but she had to wait until after her dance recital. She knew exactly how much length she wanted to take off.

This was my "Before Picture."

I knew exactly what I wanted.

I love going to the hair salon.

My new haircut was perfect!

Grandma liked it!

Garyldine did too!

Finally I could add my "After Picture" to my "Before Picture."

Another Request to Make Dinner

Katie pulled out her princess cook book again, and she had one request for dinner. She wanted Cinderella salad. I explained that we needed more for dinner, so she suggested carrots and dip. She made it clear that she wanted nothing to do with the dip…only the carrots. We added fish to the dinner for the rest of us, but Katie was happy with her vegetables.

This is all I wanted for dinner!

Gifts from Garyldine

Garyldine was mending a couple of Katie's blankets that the dogs ate, and when she delivered them, she also brought some gifts for Katie that she was pretty thrilled about.

I got a case to keep my Shopkins in, and...

…a new pair of shiny shoes! Thank you, Garyldine!

A Constant Ballerina

When Katie is waiting for someone, she never just stands. She typically dances or does ballet poses while she waits. She loves dancing!

I'm just hanging around, waiting to go.

Taking Dolls for a Ride

I love when Katie uses her imagination. She always likes to turn her table and chairs into a car. She makes sure to put a car seat in the back for her dolls or animals.

Anna and Elsa were very comfortable in their car seat.

Shark Week

My sister, Jennifer, taught Katie all about Shark Week this year. She got out her bucket of shark paraphernalia to celebrate. Katie loved it! You would think Shark Week was a national holiday!

I really liked Aunt Jennifer's shark hat.

The shark nose was fun, too!

A Summer Picnic

Katie and I went on one of our lunch time summer picnics. We just walk back behind our house and sit on the road that is blocked from traffic. It's an easy way to get out of the house and enjoy each other's company. She loved listening to the birds sing and watching the butterflies flit.

I always like to unpack the lunch and see what my mom brought.

"Napkin in my lap…clap, clap, clap!"

My mom knows that I love pepperoni!

Blueberries are always yummy too!

We spent a lot of quiet time looking for butterflies! I found four big ones!

We have fun together!

After we ate, we climbed the hill to check on the blackberries.

They weren't quite ready, but they're getting close!

I love picnics!
