Checking Out Her Books

I always love when I see Katie looking through her books to see which one to read next.

I always have a lot of books I want to read, so sometimes it's hard to decide where to start.

Entertaining General

It was close to bedtime which meant extra petting time for the cats.

I might as well spoil General Washington when he's around me!

Blossoming Trees

Katie was very excited this year to finally see blossoms on the trees.

Calling Aunt Jennifer

After finishing the genetics assignment, Katie made sure to FaceTime Jennifer to show her the poor quality pictures on her paper and laugh.

Aunt Jennifer thought the pictures were pretty bad too!

Learning about Genetics

Katie has started learning about genetics in her health class. Since she had homework to track recessive and dominant features within families, she let her teacher know she was adopted. Even though it makes it hard to track features, we still had fun looking at the assignment together.

My worksheet had really bad pictures to help. A lot of them just looked like a black shape! It made me laugh!

Another Sunday Night Routine

Every Sunday night, it's like Mr. Limpet knows that another school week is about to start. He always sits as close to us as possible on Sunday.

Mr. Limpet must just have good timing with the days of the week.

Ending the Weekend

We always go over to see my sister on weekends, and it's always a little sad when we go home on Sundays, knowing our weekend has come to an end.

I try to keep a smile on my face even when the weekend is ending.

Treats

Katie got a gift bag from our friends who had visited Japan. She was so excited for everything in the bag which included anime figure, stickers, a magnet, and some treats. The first thing she wanted to try was a strawberry flavored Kit Kat.

Kit Kats are yummy. I liked the strawberry flavor for a change! Thank you for my gifts!

A Surprise

My sister, Jennifer, gave Katie a very fun surprise.

Aunt Jennifer and I are going to have some fun together!

Working on the Whole Person

For a long time, Katie has been focused on learning how to draw faces. Recently, she has added a body to the faces.

I try to add a little bit more slowly, so I can work on proportions.

Getting Entertained

There have been more birds flying around our house since spring has arrived, which the cats love. The birds entertain the cats, and the cats entertain us with their chirping noises and their wildly wiggling tails.

The cats often wag their tails in synchrony.

Her Favorite Spot

Katie's favorite spot has to be the bookstore right now.

There are always more books that I can look at when I'm here.

An Old Friend

Katie wanted to go on a walk, and she was so happy to see her favorite neighborhood cat again.

I hadn't seen him since the fall!

A Movie with Aunt Jennifer

When the Mario movie came out, my sister and Katie both wanted to see it, so they had a fun night out at the movies.

We had the whole theater to ourselves until the movie started. We were hoping for a private screening.

Getting Done

As helpful as Katie can be with the groceries, she is always glad when the shopping is over. I can't say that I blame her.

I'm ready to get home and relax.

Helping Out

Katie is good to always help out to get the weekly groceries.

I prefer to push the cart while we're in the store.

Trying Markers

Katie doesn't typically use markers to color her artwork, but she got inspired the other night.

Success

Katie was successful with making and baking bread. She ended up with two pretty loaves.

I was excited to have a piece of fresh bread with dinner.

A Good Punch

After the bread dough raised the first time, Katie got to punch the dough down so it could raise again. 

It sounded like fun until I punched the side of the bowl!

Ever since Katie got into anime, she has been all about Japanese culture and language. She has been excited about an app she recently got to help her learn more about the language.

This app helps me practice the language.

A Night Out

My principal very generously offered some tickets for Katie and me to go to a musical. Of course I took her up on it, and Katie and I had a night out.
