A Hairdo

One day, I had decided to put Katie's hair into two braids. After wearing it like that all day, she decided she was tired of the braids because they wouldn't stay behind her ears. She brought me a clip and an idea for how to fix her problem and ended up with a new hairdo that she loved.

This is so much better! 

Now my braids don't get in my way!

A Terranium

Katie recently got a new terrarium, and it has been a good learning experience for her. She has learned a lot about planting from helping to plant our flowers, fruits, and vegetables outside, but as her seeds have started sprouting in her terrarium, she's had the chance to see the roots grow underground through the side of her jar. She has enjoyed watching them grow and has learned their purpose. It has been fun!

The first thing I had to do was to unpack everything. 

Then I had to follow the directions to make layers in the jar. I started with soil and then blue sand. 

Then I added gravel. 

I finished my terrarium by adding more soil, decorations, and seeds. After I went in, I got to add stickers to the outside. It was fun!

Blast from the Past

When I found Shrinky Dinks, I couldn't resist getting some for Katie. It brought back such memories from my own childhood! We had fun together making them!

First, we got to color the Shrinky Dinks. 

Then we carefully placed them on a baking tray. 

It was hard to wait the three minutes for them to shrink! 

The wait was worth it! I ended up with two new bracelets! I love Shrinky Dinks!

Time at the Library

I'm not sure what Katie likes the best about spending time at the library. I'm just glad she likes it!

We always get to make fun things like this puppet at the library! 

There's also toys to play with there! I play with the toys and then I get to choose some books to take home!

A Change in the Bedtime Routine

When the dogs outgrew the small kennel upstairs, they were transitioned into a larger kennel downstairs. Katie misses having the puppies near her at night, and she has had to change her bedtime routine. Now, Katie has to read the puppies their bedtime story earlier.

A Picnic

We decided to take Katie on a picnic one day for fun. Instead of going to a park, we packed up a lunch and walked though our neighborhood to find a quiet spot to sit and eat. We ended up eating on the sidewalk since the grass was wet, but Katie still thought it was fun. After we ate lunch, we went blackberry picking. Ever since, Katie asks for picnics a lot!

When we found a place to sit, I had to unpack everything first. 

I got out my special glasses that I packed to look for bugs. I also brought a mirror to look for bears. 

You never know when you'll need an eraser to wipe away the bugs you find! 

I was very happy with my lunch. It tasted even better because it was on an Elsa plate! 

This is the hill we would have sat on if it wasn't wet. 

After our picnic, we walked into the woods to see what was there! 

We were excited to find a bird's egg that was leftover from a baby bird hatching. 

I looked inside it, but there was nothing there. 

After we left the woods, I climbed a "mountain" and found blackberries! Yum! 

My mom wanted a picture of me, so I assumed I should pose. 

I went back to picking berries for a bit. 

Then I practiced a pose again and...  

…again and... 

…again and... 

again! 

It was the best day ever!

A Walrus

Katie uses her imagination quite often. Lately, she's really liked to use her crayon box to become a walrus.

What do you mean it's time to go to bed? Walruses don't have bedtimes!

A Princess at Heart

Katie loves to pose like a princess, pretend to be a princess, and she even sleeps in a princess-like way!

Camping

One morning, Katie decided to take Bailey "camping." I wasn't invited, but I was allowed to take a couple of pictures.

After our busy day camping, we decided to take a nap in our tent. 

Living in the wilderness is fun!

Trapping Ants

A couple of weeks ago when Katie was at Story Time, the librarian read books that were all related to bugs. After the stories, the kids completed an art project, which was creating a bug jar on paper. Ever since that week, Katie has decided that she wants to trap ants. In the past, ants have just made her squeal and run, but now she gets up close and personal.

 We made these bug jars in the library, and that put ideas in my head!

When I got home, I collected materials and headed outside. 

I knew there had to be a way to get the ants out of the crack in the driveway. 

When I catch them, I'm going to keep them in my tea set pitcher. It'll be perfect!

All Bundled Up

On a hot, summer afternoon, Katie decided that she needed a warm blanket. I laughed when I saw how she fell asleep!

I know we were in the middle of a heat wave, but sometimes the air conditioner is cold!

A New Bubble Machine

When Katie's bubble machine broke, Garyldine and friends, Madison and McKenna, found a new one. Since it was princess themed, it was the best bubble machine yet!

I couldn't believe I had a new princess bubble machine! 

Thank you! I love it!

Back to Story Time

Summer time means back to Story Time at our public library. Katie loves her time there! She enjoys the stories, the music, and the crafts. They do such a good job.

After the stories, we got to sing, dance, and play with scarves. 

Then we got to design a kite! 

I loved how mine turned out.

Posing in a New Dress

Awhile ago, I ordered Katie a new dress. It was really cheap, and I thought it would be a good summer play dress. I was shocked when I received it, and saw that it was a very formal dress. I didn't know what to do with it since I couldn't return it, but I didn't need to worry. Katie loves to use it as a new costume. She usually calls it her wedding dress.

Practicing with Roller Skates

Now that summer is here, Katie has been interested in learning to roller skate. It has been so hot though, that Katie decided it was easier to practice in the house.

My balance gets better each day!
