Keeping Warm

The thing Katie hates about baths at night is that her wet hair makes her feel cold right before bed, but she also doesn't like hair dryers. She decided to solve the problem of being cold by wearing a hat to bed.

I really don't like feeling cold!

Birthday Surprises

Katie was happy to receive a few gifts after her birthday. It always seems extra special to her.

I was down working in the basement while Katie entertained herself at her vanity. Beauty ensued.

The Entertainment of a Card

Katie keeps all of her cards that make music in a drawer that she can get to at any time. When she had her sunglasses on, she thought it was the perfect costume for dancing with her cat card.

Aquabeads

Katie tried building pictures with Aquabeads for the first time. I was pretty impressed with her fine motor work.

I had to work slowly to get all of the right colors in the right holes.

Bubble Time

As the cooler weather begins to set in, Katie takes advantage of any of the warmer days that she has to do some of her favorite things like blow bubbles.

Bubbles just make me happy! 

It's like I enter into a private bubble zone. 

 I like to catch bubbles, and...

…watch them. 

It's the perfect nice-weather activity!

The dogs like bubbles too!

The next day, Katie continued entertaining Sadie.

Trying Out My Bike

Katie was excited to try her new bike that Garyldine, Jim, and Aunt Jody gave her for her birthday.

I was pretty excited to give my bike a go!

A Surprise at the Hair Dresser's

Katie went with Garyldine and my mom to get their hair cut, and she found a surprise…a Yorkie. She loved everything about the dog and still talks about the pink hair!

A New Animal Friend

One night we were outside, and Katie spotted a new friend taking a ride in her wagon. Katie is so excited that it's using it right now as its house.

I couldn't believe it when I saw something moving. 

It was a tiny frog who moved into my wagon. He lives under the bag of soil, and I get to check on him all the time!

Going to the State Fair

We decided to also visit the state fair this year. It was very similar to the county fair that we had gone to with Kathy and Kai. We, of course, chose another hot day to visit the fair, so we enjoyed any chance of shade.

The first thing we decided to do was to go on a sky ride. 

I sat with my mom, and we went up and up and rode over the top of the fair! It was fun! 

We had to go and see the cows! What would a fair be without them?

I liked when I was able to pet the two week old calf! 

Ducks are always one of my favorites! 

Grandma wanted to try this jiggle foot machine. 

I shared with her, and it made our feet feel good! 

We sat in the shade a bit to watch this funny clown show. 

Then I insisted on riding my favorite ponies again!

Fly Catching

Katie has had this dream lately to be a fly catcher. Luckily, she has gotten some practice. She doesn't like to use a fly swatter. Instead she gets a squirt bottle and sprays water at the flies. Then she tries to strike them down with her toy light saber. She has a future ahead of her!

I try to stand really still as I wait for the flies to approach.  

Then, WHAM! I strike them down!

Lookin' Groovy

You never know how you might find Katie dressed when you walk in the room. She likes to add all sorts of accessories to complete her outfits.

Window Markers

When I opened the Crayola markers for Katie to make her book, I found a free pack of window markers. Katie was more than excited to try them out and loved making designs on the windows. I wish it was as easy to get them off the windows as to put them on, but I guess the fun made it worth it.

Working on a Book

This summer, Katie started writing her first book. We're using a Crayola book making kit, so in the end, she'll have her own book mailed to her. Katie decided to write the story of getting Bailey and Sophie. It's a lot of work to write a book, but Katie knows when she needs breaks, and slowly but surely, it'll get done.

After I wrote the words on the page, I drew a matching picture.

Waiting for Grandma

Katie and I drove my mom to a doctor's appointment. It might not be fun for most kids to sit in a waiting room, but Katie always packs herself a backpack full of entertainment.

I started off by playing with my Little Mermaid magnet set. 

Then I checked out my Frozen stamps. 

I made a picture for Grandma! 

When I got done, I went back to magnets. I love waiting rooms!

Catching Up with a Friend

At the end of summer, Katie was able to meet her good friend, Rose, at the park. They hadn't seen each other since their pre-K graduation, and they had so much fun catching up on lost time!

I was so happy to see Rose again! 

We had a lot to talk about. 

She will always be special to me. 

I love you, Rose!

Six-Year Check Up

Katie had to go to the doctor for her six-year check up. We were led back to the examination room, and Katie was given her gown to change into. It wasn't even two minutes past the time she had changed, and the the fire alarm started ringing. The nurse came back in, and gave Katie another gown to add to her current gown and off we went to stand in the parking lot. Luckily there was no actual fire, but it will be a check-up that we'll remember!

I was a trooper even when I had to stand in the parking lot in a gown!

A Play Date

Kai invited Katie over to his house to play with his outdoor toys. Katie loved her time with him!

I always have fun when I can play with bubbles! 

Kai has a really fun swimming pool! 

 We could go down a slide to get in the pool.

We also got to run through the sprinkler toy. 

Then it was back in the pool for us. 

It was a nice place to be on a warm day.

Kai even has a sand box. 

We could dig and dig and dig! 

Kathy let me borrow a hat, so we could try our bubbles in the sun! 

Then we got to end our fun with Popsicles. Yum!
