Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A River View

After visiting the ducks and seeing Aunt Jennifer, my mom and I took Katie for a walk along the river. We were shocked at the number of boats on the river, but Katie liked seeing them. It was a relaxing way of getting some fresh air!

When we got to the river, we saw boat after boat after boat!

It was such a pretty day there!

Grandma and I enjoyed the sunlight!

It was so nice that I didn't even need my coat.

Right before we left, I decided to play hide and seek.

I ran ahead of everyone, and...

…I hid! Can they find me?

Can they find me here?

I wonder if I could crawl inside the bush to hide.

I'll try this one too!

My mom and I love new, spring leaves!

Waiting with Friends

We had to drop something off for Jennifer at her office. While we were waiting to deliver it, Katie spent some time with her friends, the ducks.

This duck let us get really close to it.

I love to see the ducks!

There weren't as many ducks as usual, but there were enough for me!

I found a leaf for them!

Do you want to nibble on the leaf?

Stuck!

One day while I was taking a shower and getting ready for the day, Katie was playing in her room. While I was putting on my make-up, I heard Katie shout, "Mama?"

I thought I should check on her, so I walked to her room and opened her door and didn't see her. "Katie?" I asked.

Katie: What?

Me: Where are you?

Katie: Over there! (This is how Katie always answers this question. She doesn't understand that she should say "Over here!")

I could tell Katie's voice was coming from her closet.

Me: Can't you get out?

Katie: No! I cain't! (Yes, she says cain't.)

I went over and opened the closet door to find that lots of things had been moved on the floor of her closet. As Katie entered her sunny room from her dark closet, she said, "The sun is so bright, it's burning my eyes! (Nothing dramatic about her.)  Mama, I went in there to become a princess, and I got duck (stuck) in the dark cave!"

I quickly discovered that Katie had tried to reach her princess costume that hangs high above her head in the closet. She had tried to build stairs to get up to her dress, but I guess the stairs weren't quite high enough. She did get high enough though to at least reach the bottom of her dress because her head and face were more covered with glitter than they had ever been! I tried to capture the glitter on camera, but only a little showed up. She truly was covered though. I wish I had a video of her trying to get her dress!

I hate when I get caught in a cave! I was brave though!

Picking Up Litter

We have houses being built on our street right now, and quite often, the builders' trash ends up blowing down the road and landing at or by our house. One night, Jennifer and Katie decided to pick up some of the misplaced litter. Well, Katie was more of a cheerleader as Jennifer picked up the litter!

We had to climb up the hill next to our house to get all of the trash.

I thought it was an adventure.

I kept my hands clean through the whole thing!

A Windy Walk

After going to the Tulip Festival, the sky got gray and the air got windy. Katie decided that she still wanted to take Chloe on a walk. We decided to walk down behind our house. There is a small section of road that has been cut off from traffic. Katie enjoyed feeling the wind and watching blossoms blow in circles as she twirled in the road.

It was windy out, but it was a warm wind!

Will the wind blow anything in my hand?

Look at all the blossoms I found!

Twirling is even more fun in the wind.

I was having so much fun outside that I didn't even consider I'd have a runny nose and be sneezing the rest of the night because of the pollen!

I really love being outside!

As we were going home, we saw nine hawks soaring above our house!
We never see that many all at one time!

Visiting the Tulip Festival

On a sunny day during my Spring Break a few weeks ago, my mom and I decided to drive Katie to the Tulip Festival. She has been missing the flowers in our yard lately, so this was a way to give her access to plenty of fresh flowers. We had a lot of fun and enjoyed the dry air!

We found fresh tulips even as we were walking through the parking lot!

I was excited when I told my mom that someone drew flowers in the sidewalk!

We saw buckets and buckets of flowers for sale.

There were sand boxes set up with buckets and trucks in them.

It made me think of the beach!

Grandma helped me move our duck down the tube by pumping water.

I loved playing with the ducks!

 Look! I'm a tulip!

A creative person made these horse swings out of tires.

They were so much fun!

I wanted a picture by the cow.

I had to get a picture with both cows.

We got to take a hayride to the tulip fields.

I was excited to get to the flowers!

As soon as I got off the hayride, I found a tractor that I had to drive.

Look at all the colors!

I thought the fields were beautiful!

The fields went on and on.

It wasn't long before I took one of my mom's cameras to take pictures of my own.

We took a break on the bench and watched some people pass us.

My mom and I took pictures of each other.

It was time to head back. My mom and grandma asked me what my favorite color of flower was. Right away, I picked white!

Garyldine also likes white, so I took some pictures for her!

What is inside these flowers anyway?

I love flowers!

We ended our visit with the windy hayride back to the parking lot. It was a fun day!
