Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Bubble Wrap

When Jennifer got some picture frames in the mail, they came packed in bubble wrap. Katie, like most kids, was so excited to pop the bubbles over and over and over and over!

I thought it would be best to jump across the bubble wrap.

I was like a bouncing bunny!

It may have been a lot of noise, but I loved it!

A New Teacher

This summer, Katie was so curious about who her second grade teacher would be. As we got closer and closer to the school year beginning, she started waiting on edge for the mail to come. She knew she'd be getting a letter that revealed her teacher.

I was pretty happy when I read my letter and found out who my teacher was!

Polishing Up

Katie loves nail polish. Recently, she wanted to paint her nails bright pink.

My nail polish matched my nightgown pretty nicely!

Shopping

Katie always has fun when she has any excuse to go shopping. This year she particularly loved going back-to-school shopping!

I mostly got some new school clothes, but I did talk my mom into this new purse!

Stickers, Stickers, Stickers

One night, Katie got busy with her stickers!

I was trying to decide if the hearts were a good addition to my face.

Nothing is Faster

Nothing puts Katie to sleep faster than being warm and riding in a car. It's so hard for her to stay awake.

I tried to stay awake, but....

A Portrait

Katie was busy one night with her Boogie Board. After awhile, she proudly proclaimed, "I drew a picture of you!"

I loved the picture I drew of my mom!

As the Clouds Appear

After a pretty sunny stretch this summer, we had a day with some clouds. Katie immediately decided she better add some accessories to her wardrobe. It didn't matter that it was still a really warm day. It only mattered that it looked colder.

I thought I better add a really warm sweater, gloves, and rain boots to my outfit since the clouds came out!

Lyrical Dancing

Katie took lyrical dance again this summer and enjoyed it so much! It's so much fun to watch her!

I try really hard to do everything like my teacher.

Sometimes we have to stretch our legs up high!

We learned a brand new dance that we were working on to show our parents.

Dancing makes me happy!

Time for the Dentist

Katie loves her dentist. I love that she can go and be completely relaxed!

I always get to choose a movie to watch when I'm at the dentist, and then I get toys at the end!

Who Knew?

We found a little toy shop that we stopped at after going to the office store, and who knew that they would have cute head bands with furry flamingos on them?

I loved this headband!

The Perfect Office Chair

When Jennifer went to an office liquidator store for a desk, Katie found what she considered a perfect office chair!

Everyone needs a chair like this!

A Teacher in the Making

When I was teaching a summer program for the incoming kindergarten students, Katie was the first to sign up to help. She told me it made her feel like a real teacher to help the younger kids.

I got to sit at the teacher table and work with small groups of students. It was so much fun!

Going to the County Fair

This summer, we met Kai and his mom at the County Fair again. Katie was so happy!

We decided to ride the bus to the fair this year, and I really liked it!

Kai and I decided to sit and watch the dock dogs for awhile. I think we talked more than we watched the dogs though.

We always seem to go to the fair on a really hot day. The misting stations felt really good!

Kai and I like to lead the way!

We had the chance to sit in the sheriff's truck!

We also went inside a little play house and met a new friend.

After, it was time for my favorite thing...these air bubbles that spin on the water. You get in first and then they fill it with air.

After that, you have to figure out how to move in the bubble in order to move through the water.

Kai and I were always trying to get to one another!

It was so much fun!

After, we got to go in the bubbles that travel on the ground. First, we had to learn the rules.

Then it was time to run!

Can you find me?

Now can you find me?

Then it was time to pet some animals.

This goose was honking over and over! I think it would have rather been somewhere else!

We had a rear-end view of the cows.

I liked the guinea pig!

I even tried petting a chicken.

One of my requests was to ride the ponies.

 I chose to ride Gem!

After a bite to eat, Kai and I went fishing and got a couple of prizes.

We also went on a drive!

It was almost time to leave, so Kai and I got some ice cream to help cool off on a hot day!

The ice cream was good and so was the company!

After ice cream, of course we had to go wash hands at this cute hand-washing station.
Thanks for coming with me, Kai!

Always Writing

Katie loves to write, and she rarely goes a day without making and writing at least one book. We have books all over the place!

You can always write a book about your pets!

A Birthday Hike

The day after Jennifer's birthday, we went to one of her favorite places - Lost Lake. We had a picnic and then we went on a hike around the lake.

I loved the rocks by our picnic table. My legs are long enough now that I can easily walk from rock to rock!

We all made it to the picnic table and were ready for lunch!

After eating, Aunt Jennifer, my mom, and I got ready to hike around the lake.

Part of the hike has a boardwalk through nature.

I was a little concerned when I started seeing the bugs out in nature, but...

...I did like seeing all the trees and greenery.

Some of the paths were narrow where the bushes had grown big. I just hugged my arms in tight to get through.

This is my absolute favorite part of the hike where I'm right by the lake. I pick out the perfect rock,...

...hold it high above my head,...

...watch it fly,...

...until...

....SPLASH!

I try all different sizes of rocks.

I could stay in this spot all day, but we eventually always have to go.

On the way back, we took time to appreciate some wild flowers.

These were my favorites!
I hope you had a happy birthday, Aunt Jennifer!
