Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Getting Ready for Pictures

Every year on Gotcha Day, Katie gets pictures taken. Then night before she went this year, she decided that she better practice posing before she went. She wanted me to take pictures of her poses, so she wouldn't forget them.

A Gotcha Day Card

Katie is always thrilled to hear from my friend, Noreen. She was especially happy to receive a special card for Gotcha Day, where Noreen was extremely generous and sent Katie some money for a gift.

Thank you so much, Grammy Noreen and Grandpa Joe!

School Celebration

Every spring, our school has a Pride Night to celebrate all of the hard work of the students. This year, Katie sang some songs, showed my sister and me some of her work, and helped me pass out some ice cream. It's always a fun night!

After my mom watched her students sing, I showed Aunt Jennifer and her some of my work in the classroom!

Then it was time for me to sing. I like to choose a spot in the back!

I love singing a lot, but I don't always love people watching me!

We sang five songs, and I loved each one!

When I got home, I sang all the songs to my mom again.

One of the Songs We Sang

Another Song We Sang

 A Third Song We Sang

Pride Night was a giant success!

Flexible Girl

Sometimes when Katie does her dance moves, it just doesn't look natural.

After lots of practice, I finally learned how to walk down the mat in a bridge position.

Brownies for Some Favorite People

Katie had been begging to make some brownies for some of her favorite people. We finally got around to it, and she was so happy!

There's nothing like a homemade treat!

Nothing Like a Swing

Out of everything on the playground, Katie loves the swings the most. She has never wavered from her feelings from the time she was small.

There's just something relaxing about a swing!

A Cat Tower

We decided to get Mr. Limpet a cat tower to play on when we found one at Costco. Of course, Katie had to turn it into part of a fort for her and the cat.

I knew Mr. Limpet would come inside the fort with me. I had a pile of books ready for him when he joined me!

A Visit to the Library

After going to the library, of course you have to spread all of your books out before you can read them!

I found a lot of good books to read!

Time at the Playground

It's a pretty perfect night for Katie when she can ride her bike to the local school playground and play and play and play!

I used to be scared to step from post to post, but now I can do it with ease!

On this night, these were some of my favorite things. As you step on them, they wobble, so you have to hold on tight.

I also remember when the balance beam was harder. All of my balance work in ballet has made a big difference!

The slide is always fun!

I thought I'd try to get to the top of this structure. I almost made it and then went back down.

My goal was to use everything on the playground before we left.

I tried the ropes and...

...this curved ladder!

Before we left, I looked for living creatures in the trees!

What a fun night!

Beautiful Weather

It's finally nice enough weather for bike riding!

My bike was a little small when I got back on, but I still used it until Jim thankfully raised the seat. He even took off my training wheels!

A Library Card

After Katie got the whole series of Magic Tree House books, she put them on one of our shelves and decided that the shelf was our library. If you're going to have a library, you have to have a library card.

I made my mom this necklace. It's connected to a library card holder.

Then I put her library card inside.

I make her scan the card whenever she wants to see a book from my library!

A Night Out

As I mentioned earlier in the blog, my mom, sister, Katie, and I had tickets to go and see Randy Rainbow when he was in town. It was so much fun, and Katie got to see him perform a couple of her favorite songs!

I was pretty excited for Randy Rainbow to come onstage!

I loved listening to him!

New Books

Katie absolutely loves the Magic Tree House series. She began reading them when she found out that her dance recital this year will be based on the stories. When she saw that you could get the whole book set from a Scholastic book order, she asked if I might get them for her.

I didn't give her the answer but surprised her with them when they got here. She was so happy about them and started organizing them right away.

I couldn't believe how many books I had!

It was hard to control my happiness!

I started organizing my books, so I could look at them in order!

It took awhile, but I did it!

When I got done, I studied each of the covers and tried to guess what adventure might happen inside!
