Look at it Grow!

Our garden has been exploding in growth lately. We think we may have planted too much, but it's a learning experience for us.

I don't even care if we planted too much. I'm just having fun watching things grow.

An Exciting Discovery

We always love to check on our garden area and find new discoveries.

Our tomato plant has been growing like crazy, and I was so excited to find some tomatoes!

Entertaining Herself

Katie can create fun for herself with a hula hoop and a ball.

The goal of my game is to kick the hula hoop across the floor without the ball touching me!

We had a few weeds to pull, and Katie was nice enough to help get the job done.

A Dog Walk

Last week, Katie came with us to walk the dogs.

It has been pretty hot here lately, so my hat helps keep me cool.

Tracking the Garden

Katie has been so excited to start to see the changes in our garden!

As we were in the line waiting to get into the Farmer's Market, Katie and I decided to get a picture together.

Getting Tall

We decided to go to the Farmer's Market last weekend, and I was shocked at how tall Katie looked while she walked next to my sister.

Most of my fingers are longer than Aunt Jennifer's, and now I'm almost as tall as her!

Where's the Cat?

Our cat, Mr. Limpet, doesn't just sleep on top of a blanket. He likes to crawl in the middle of the blanket, and Katie thinks it's so funny.

Mr. Limpet looked like he was wearing a costume.

Discovering The Three Stooges

One night as I was talking to Katie, I started talking about Larry, Mo, and Curly. Of course, she had no idea who I was referring to or who the Three Stooges were. Even if you're not a big fan, you've just got to know who they are, so I found an episode on YouTube for Katie to watch. It's not a show that I expect her to watch all the time, but she was laughing out loud at their antics.

It's always good to discover something that makes you laugh!

A Pretend Smile

As much as Katie loves to dance, she tends to get very serious during a dance performance because she experiences a case of nerves. Since she could only have two guests at the performance, my sister told her to make sure to smile and look at the camera, so she could see the happy pictures. Katie told me on the way there that she could easily just squint her eyes, and Jennifer would think she was smiling since her mouth was covered up with a mask. It cracked me up.

See! It looks like I'm smiling, but I'm only just squinting my eyes!

Tap Class

Katie's dance studio usually has two main dance presentations a year. At Christmas, families are invited into the studio to observe a modified class. Then in the spring, there is a dance recital. Since the pandemic hit, there have been no recitals. This spring, however, the studio invited two guests per student to observe the class in the studio. My mom and I went with Katie to watch her tapping. She did such a good job!

Last Day of In-Person Fourth Grade

Katie's last day of school in person was on Monday. Her last day of actual fourth grade is today. We took the opportunity to take a picture on Monday to celebrate the day.

It was one strange year, but I worked hard day after day!

A Walk

After Katie's playdate, we walked back to Jennifer's house.

Kai lives pretty close to Aunt Jennifer.

It was a nice walk home!

A Playdate

Katie and Kai have had a lot of virtual playdates since the pandemic, but this weekend, they finally had an in-person playdate.

We got to play Scrabble, and...

...a math game! I always have fun with Kai!

Just Doing Some Work

While we were outside, Katie decided to water the flowers for me.

The flowers are always so happy to get watered!

Another Blossom

After Katie gave me the flower for Mother's Day and we got it planted, the blossoms all fell off. She was so happy last week when she saw that it had some new flowers on it.

I was so worried my flower was going to die.

A Sprout

Katie went out to water our garden and was so excited to find two sprouts popping up!

The Perfect Present

Katie's friend has a birthday coming up, and she was so happy to find the perfect gift for her.

As we have been watching the Star Wars movies, Jennifer was inspired to get some Star Wars Legos. It was fun for Katie to check out the finished product!

A Little Cave

When we were watching something on TV, Katie decided to build herself a little cave.

I think this is the most comfortable way to watch TV!

A Smoothie

After the planting in the really hot weather, Katie wanted to make herself a smoothie. She shared with me, and it was pretty delicious!

I added oranges, a banana, some orange juice, and a little ice cream.

Then I mixed it all up.

It looked delicious and tasted delicious!

A Cool Shower

After our hot planting, Katie asked me if I would spray her with the hose to cool her off.

The hose water is always a little cooler than I expect!

Planting

Once we got our raised garden bed set up, we got some seeds and seedlings to plant. Katie was a good sport to help, but we chose the hottest time of the day to do it which wasn't the most fun. 

After planting a red bell pepper seedling, I started my seed plantings!

It was so hot!

A Raised Vegetable Garden

Last year, my sister gave me a raised garden box for my small back yard. Katie and I decided to put it together and do some planting.

After we slide the frame together, we started filling in the bottom.

We had to leave a little space between the boards for the water to escape.

It was so easy to build it!
