Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A Thanksgiving Card

The week before Thanksgiving, Katie got a card from my friends, Noreen and Joe. It always puts a smile on her face to hear from them!

I was happy as soon as I saw Grammy Noreen's handwriting!

She always writes me the nicest letters!

Christmas at the Zoo

After our Thanksgiving celebrations, we decided to go over to the zoo to see their Christmas lights. We've always talked about going to see them, but we've never made it until this year. It was a pretty cold night, but the lights made it worth being cold. It was a fun night!

I was glad to find some lights outside of the zoo. They entertained me while we waited to enter!

I loved the purple tree!

Aunt Jennifer and I stopped for a picture right away!

It was a cold night. I thought I might get warm if I got close to the rocks.

One of my favorite things was the dragon flying through the air!

We were excited to find the Wizard of Oz characters!

My mom and I got a picture with the tiger since I was born in the Year of the Tiger.

We saw a whole African scene set up.

Some of the animals moved too!

Sometimes we passed whole walls of lights. It was pretty!

We waited in a long, long, long, long, long line for a pretty short train ride!

The ride was worth it when Elsa made a surprise visit outside our train window! She waved at me and blew me a kiss, so I knew she remembered me!

Zebras have always been one of my favorite animals!

Aunt Jennifer and I stopped in the tunnel of lights.

Then we got one more picture of my favorite giraffe!

Before we left the zoo, I insisted on riding the mountain goat even though everyone was numb from coldness!

Keeping Bailey Company

During our Thanksgiving dinner, we were thankful for dog crates, so we could enjoy a peaceful meal. During the meal, however, Bingle decided to come along and flaunt the fact that she was not in a crate, which bothered the dogs a lot. They started barking at her to let her know how unhappy they were with her. In response, we covered their crates with coats and blankets, so they couldn't see Bingle, and our house could get peaceful again.

After dinner, Katie was very interested in visiting Bailey. She'd pull the blankets on the crate back just a little to say hello to her. It wasn't long before Katie took a handful of books over and put herself under the blankets and read to Bailey while the dishes were being done.

I knew that Bailey wanted my company!

I did a little thinking and then realized that she wanted me to read to her.

Happy Thanksgiving, 2015!

This year, we had a small, but good, Thanksgiving celebration. Of course, we had to begin with our annual game of, "Will Katie Fit In the Stuffing Pot?" The pot was looking kind of small when I grabbed it, but Katie still got herself mostly into it and was a good sport to pose for pictures.

After we washed the stuffing pot, Katie helped to prepare what she referred to as "the feast," and was very excited to take part in it. The idea of the feast to Katie was better than actually eating any of the food. Like always, she had a very small but delicious meal.

We hope you had a wonderful holiday as well!

I had to start sitting in this pot when I was only a year old!

I easily fit into the same pot when I was two.

At three, this became a fun game!

When I was four, everyone was surprised that I could fold my long legs into it.

Now that I'm five, my legs are a little squished, but it was still fun to sit in it, or...

…just relax in it!

When I got done playing in the pot, my giraffe and I decided to help prepare the feast.

When we sat down to eat, my mom put a small amount of everything on my plate. I also brought my lunch leftovers.

In all, I ate one piece of celery, one carrot, one green bean, and three rolls. It was delicious!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Another Fashionable Outfit

Katie took a really long time getting dressed one day. When she came out of her room she said, "I had to take a long time so I would be beautiful!"

I found my cat hat and matched it with my cat leggings. Then I put on my Little Mermaid skirt and added my Frozen t-shirt. I topped everything off with my orange sweater!

Hearing from Two More Friends

Katie was thrilled to hear from two more friends that she had written to recently. She received a package from Superman and a letter from Sofia the First!

I was so happy to hear from Superman!

He wrote me a letter and sent me a Superman Pez dispenser!

Princess Sofia wrote me a letter too! It was my lucky day!

Continuing to Enjoy Markers

One day, Katie was coloring with my mom. When I looked at her, I told her she had a marker smudge on her face. Since her face was already dirty, my sister asked if she could draw a mustache on her face. Katie thought that was so funny that she continued drawing. I'm just thankful that Crayola markers can be so easily removed!

I thought Aunt Jennifer's mustache was pretty funny!

I decided to add more and...

…more!

It's just like adding make-up!

Katie...What Are You Doing?

The first night Katie had her new box, she was sitting inside it so quietly. I kept asking her what she was doing. I kept hearing, "Nothing." Eventually, Katie came out with the announcement that she had a surprise for me.

Look at what I did to my hands when I was in the box!

Ta-daaa!

A New Box

Jennifer received a huge box in the mail and decided to gift her box to Katie. Of course Katie loved it. It is her playhouse, dressing room, and boat.

My new box is almost as tall as I am!

If I turn it on its side, it's a perfect boat!

Eventually, I made it beautiful by adding decorations and windows!

Reminiscing about Halloween

Just when I thought Halloween was completely done for the year, Katie's school sent me this cute picture from their Halloween celebration. It made Katie want the holiday to start all over again!

My school always has fun celebrations!

Baking Fun

Katie asked me if we could follow a recipe she had for brownies. How could I turn that down? She quickly put on her apron, and we got started.

I had the eggs, and I was ready to go!

I always have fun baking. Our tiny brownies were delicious!

Dear Mr. President...

Katie was ready to write a letter to a second president. She decided that she wanted to write to one of her favorite presidents, George Washington. Aunt Jennifer broke the news to Katie that President Washington was dead. After thinking about that for a few hours, Katie asked me, "Is President Washington really dead or just sick? If he's not really dead, he'd probably like a letter from me."

By the next day, Katie had accepted that President Washington was dead, but she wanted to still write to him. I felt like there was no harm in it, so she told me what she wanted to write, and we sent it off to Mt. Vernon.

I love President Washington!

Do you think he'll write back to me?

A Sense of Style

Lately, Katie has wanted to choose all of her outfits. She doesn't want any help getting dressed, and no one is allowed to see her until she is completely dressed. Sometimes she puts together a very cute outfit. Other times, she puts together a very creative outfit. No matter how creative the outfit, she's always very proud of her style sense.

I loved my outfit. My ruffle socks (one turned inside out), my off-white leggings, my pure white Halloween shirt, and my cat hat that reminded me of Halloween, all topped off with my Hello Kitty purse. I loved the look!

A Sparkly Gown

At Halloween time, Katie wanted to get Bailey a costume - a sparkly gown. The gown was a lot more money than I was willing to spend, and luckily it was the wrong size for Bailey. After Halloween, we found a $3 sparkly gown at Target, which served its purpose perfectly.

Bailey was so happy to look like a princess!

She showed off her sparkly gown to all of the other dogs!

Hearing from the Princesses

After Katie wrote a letter to Princess Ariel, Ariel sent Katie a postcard signed by all of the princess friends. Katie loved it!

I was hoping Ariel would write back to me!

I didn't expect all of the princesses to send their autographs though!
