St. Patrick's Day Mail

When St. Patrick's Day rolled around, Katie received a card in the mail from my friend, Noreen. It makes her so happy every time she sees her handwriting on an envelope!

Grammy Noreen sent me stickers with my card! I loved them! Thank you!

Looking Back

The other day, Kai's mom, Kathy, found this old picture. I couldn't believe how young Kai and Katie looked!

Kai and I have been friends for a long time!

Another Cat Fort

Katie loves to make forts for the cats. She especially loves to build them right after I clean the house.

I always make rest areas and play areas for the cats. 

It doesn't take long before the cats move in!

So Grown Up

Sometimes I look at Katie, and she looks so grown up.

Choosing Dessert

We went to the store, and Katie asked if she could choose something for dessert. When I said yes, she was so happy to find the perfect thing.

What could be better for dessert than Cuties, except for already-peeled Cuties? Yum!

Nighttime Reading

Why go to sleep when it's time to go to bed when you can stay up reading?

I have the most fun when I get completely covered up and use a flashlight to read my books!

See You Later

When Katie isn't snuggling with General Washington, she's very often with Mr. Limpet. She always makes sure to say good-bye to him before leaving for school.

Mr. Limpet isn't supposed to be on the bar, but I don't say anything. 

I love when Mr. Limpet gives me a kiss good-bye!

The Love

Whenever General Washington is lonely and Katie is around, he heads right for her. Whenever it's possible, he shows her he's lonely by walking around her and wrapping his tail around her neck like a scarf. That's Katie hint to give him some extra attention.

General Washington likes to give me hints when he's lonely. 

He goes back and forth until I notice him. 

I love him! 

He starts my day off the right way.

Writing Stories

Katie has always loved writing stories. She usually writes her stories by hand, but a few weeks ago, she decided she wanted to write a chapter book on my computer. Her plan is to write the whole book and then have her friends help her illustrate it.

I love to work on my story when I get home in the evening!

A Book Girl

I love that Katie loves books.

It always makes me so happy when I can go to the library!

A Volcano

Katie had been learning about volcanoes in school, and she wanted to re-create at home what they had done in school.

I drew a picture on the plate of the landscape and put a water bottle lid in the middle of the plate that was full of baking soda to represent the volcano. 

Then I slowly added vinegar with red food coloring. 

My volcano started erupting! 

I tried to explain everything that was going on with my plate! 

My volcano kept erupting every time I added more vinegar! 

Chef Katie

After the cats and dogs took turns chewing up Katie's chef hat and apron, my mom got Katie a new chef outfit for Christmas! She loves to wear it and play restaurant!

I was so excited to get my new Minnie Mouse apron and hat! 

Sometimes I bring all of my kitchen things into the living room and I open up a restaurant. 

I take the orders and make all of the plates. 

My animals aren't too picky. They're easy customers! 

I try to be a good hostess and a good cook!

The Barbie House

Katie loves to have her Barbie house in the living room. Even though it takes up a lot of space, it's worth it when you see the fun she has playing with it.

I make up lots of stories that my dolls act out in this house!

Always Creating

I love how Katie continuously finds ways to create new things.

I just decided to make up a game to play on this night.

Happy President's Day

Every year, Katie likes to celebrate President's Day. From the time she was little, Katie has had an interest in the presidents. She tries to focus most on the presidents that she likes and respects.

This year, I got some books, some presidential quote cards, and a George Washington doll!

Special Cards

Not only did Katie receive a Valentine's card from my friend, Noreen, but she also sent Katie Chinese New Year wishes. Katie loved it!

When I opened this card, I was surprised to find a Chinese New Year envelope inside of it! 

I looked inside to find money and a gift card inside! How lucky! 

What did I do to deserve Grammy Noreen? 

After that, I found a Valentine's Day card too! Thank you!

Finding the Humor

Katie loves joke books! She could read them for hours while she giggles the whole way through the book.

Rock Tumbling - Part 3

Katie's rock tumbling had to take a small break while we were on vacation, but she soon got back to the work of polishing. Her tumbler was finished with the second round of tumbling, and she was on to the third round.

When I opened my tumbler after it's second round, it looked so thick and muddy! 

We worked on rinsing the rocks. 

They were starting to look good! 

Then we put the rocks back in the tumbler, added water, and added the next packet of grit! 

I wonder what they will look like the next time.

The Valentine Box

After lots of planning, Katie finally got to create her Valentine box. She was thrilled with the outcome!

After I wrapped my box, I decorated it with stickers.

I thought it looked perfect!

Getting Over to Jennifer's

After a day of being snowed in, we ventured out into the world and ended up at my sister's house. Katie enjoyed playing in snow that she hadn't stepped in yet!

I decided I would climb a mountain while I had the chance!

Just Watching

Once we got inside from our snow adventures, Katie couldn't stop observing the landscape and dreaming of snow.

It looked so peaceful outside!

More Snow

By the next morning, our snow had built up to a good level. Of course, Katie wanted to go explore. We didn't have to miss any school, which was nice, because the snow hit on a weekend and was mostly gone by Monday.

When I first go out, I like to walk through the whole driveway and find the deepest parts.

I decided that I wanted to help my mom shovel the driveway. 

It was a lot harder than I thought.

I let my mom finish the driveway, and I started making miniature snowmen. 

After she got done, we went to explore the winter wonderland behind our house. 

It was so pretty! 

We both love how it looks when the snow is still on all of the trees and bushes! 

Some small branches can hold a lot of snow!

When I sat down to make a snow angel, I realized just how cold it was!

As I worked on my angel, snow went up my legs and back! Brrr! 

The trickiest part is getting up without ruining my work!

As soon as I got up, I checked out my work.

I thought it looked pretty good!
