Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Happy Belated Thanksgiving, 2014!

Happy Thanksgiving! We left town for the week to visit the "Happiest Place on Earth." Before we left, we made sure to take the annual "Katie-in-the-Stuffing-Pot-Photo." One of these years she won't fit anymore, but so far, it's still pretty easy to sit down. Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving!

This was our Thanksgiving host this year! Pictures to come soon.

A Match

We walked to my mom and dad's house one night, and Katie was thrilled to find her Winnie the Pooh bean bag that Aunt Jody had given her. She happened to have her favorite bear with her to make it even better.

It's a match!

New Pajamas

While we were at Target, Jennifer wanted to buy a pair of warm pajamas for Katie during a cold spell. Katie told her that she preferred the Elsa nightgown she found. It wasn't nearly as warm, but Katie was happy.

Thanks for my new nightgown, Aunt Jennifer!

A Target Trip

We were taking Katie to the library one night, and she was disappointed that it was closed when we got there. She asked if we could go to Target instead, so we made a quick trip, and Katie got to try on some fun things that we found.

We found a fun Elsa bike helmet that included a crown on the front.

Then my mom made me try on this headband that made me feel lopsided.

Painting

Katie likes to paint in any fashion, but one of her favorite types of painting is dot painting. I love that it's not messy!

I like to use all of my favorite colors.

Do you want to try?

Posing

When Katie was going to my room for a bedtime story, she asked me to take her picture with her doll. Sometimes she loves to see the camera pointing at her.

Cheese!

Accessorizing

In recent weeks, Katie has begun accessorizing herself after getting her pajamas on for the night. She creates some very interesting looks.

I had to wear my Elsa hat, my big poofy feather, and my cape on this night.

I thought I looked spectacular!

Time with Bingle

The other night while I was making dinner, Katie was taking care of Bingle.

Bingle loves when I brush her with my hair brush!

"Just Like Elsa!"

I recently got new sheets and a blanket for my bed. I went from having rose colored bedding to ivory colored. When Katie first saw my bed's new look, she got very excited, jumped up on the bed, and shouted, "It's just like Elsa! It's icy!"

I can't believe the new look!

You'll be surrounded in ice just like Elsa!

A Ride on the Carousel

After clothes shopping, Jennifer took Katie on a ride on her favorite carousel. It made her day!

I love riding horses!

The "Living Room"

We were out shopping, and my mom was trying on some shirts. Katie discovered that she loved the waiting area by Macy's fitting rooms. She kept wanting to go back to their "living room."

I could sit here all day!

Minnie Mouse Accessories

Last year at Christmas, Katie received a Minnie Mouse book from some of our friends. The book has pieces that can slide in and out of the pages. Katie loves to use Minnie Mouse's accessories.

I look pretty good in Minnie Mouse's glasses.

I also like to use her cell phone.

No pictures please. I'm concentrating on business!

Wikki Stix

Katie recently got some Wikki Stix. She had fun using them to practice making shapes and letters. Then she found out that they could easily stick to the wall. She was busily hanging up her Wikki Stix when I asked what it she was doing. "I'm making a map to Kai's house, so I know how to find him!"

Don't mind me. I'm just making a map.

Halloween Pumpkins, 2014

I realized that I never took any pictures of Katie with her completed pumpkins this year at Halloween. We took some quick pictures before it was time to throw them away.

This is my pumpkin that I decorated at school all by myself!

This is my "icy, Elsa" pumpkin that Garyldine made for me.

Dress Up

One morning I was getting ready for the day, and when I left the bathroom, I was greeted with a very proud "Elsa." Katie was so proud of the costume that she had put together, complete with accessories.

This is what Elsa looked like on Coronation Day.

I found all the accessories I needed to look just like her.

I love to dress up!

Time to ride away on my horse!

Got There First!

Katie's dancing studio recently put a kid-sized chair in their lobby. It's a huge hit with all of the little dancers. Katie absolutely loves it. She was thrilled to get in the studio first last week, so she could sit in the chair. You would think she would have won the lottery.

I was so happy to get to the chair before anyone else did!

Eventually, I let some of my friends have a turn in the chair too.

Building

One night I had to run back to my classroom to do something that I had forgotten. Katie was happy to come with me because she knows that there are lots of things that she likes to play with there. While I worked, she built castles.

I'm building castles now that include more than just a tall tower!

Coloring

For her birthday, Kai had given Katie several things. One of them was a coloring kit with paper and colored pencils. She absolutely loves it. She tends to use it to draw and color her favorite princesses.

This is one of the best gifts I've ever gotten!

This is my picture of Elsa.

Let's Play!

Katie continues to love her princesses and castles these days. She can play for a long time by herself, but she always enjoys when someone else joins her too.

Come on! Let's play!

Laundry Day

Katie always enjoys helping out with laundry on laundry day. Her favorite part, of course, is playing with the empty basket after the clothes have been folded.

This is my favorite car or rocket or train to ride in!

Grandma is nice to spin me sometimes.

It tickles my tummy!

Take a Friend to Dance Class Week

Katie's dance studio invited the students to bring a friend with them for dance class one week. We invited my co-worker's niece who is a year younger than Katie. She felt so important being the older friend who could help the younger one feel welcome.

I was going to show my friend the door, but she knew where she was heading.

It was fun to bring a friend for a week! Thanks for coming!

Halloween Cards

Katie was glad to see her name on two envelopes this Halloween season. She had received cards from my friend, Noreen and my Aunt Lois. Getting mail is always very exciting for her!

I was pretty happy to find two orange envelopes with my name on them!

I've gotten pretty good at opening envelopes over the years.

Grammy Noreen always chooses fun cards.

Aunt Lois always puts extra stickers on my cards. I love them!

I took time to read her card and look very carefully at the picture.

Then I found a spider on the front! Ahhhhh!

Don't eat me, Spider!
(This year, Katie has been very dramatic about spiders. At the sight of any spider, she yells in fright very dramatically. At first, they did scare her a little. Now she just thinks it's funny to react with fear.)

A Match

For a joke present a few years back, I had gotten Jennifer a Merida wig from the movie, Brave. The other night, we got Katie to put it on with the idea she could almost be twins with Jennifer.

I have hair like you, Aunt Jennifer!

Jewels

Katie had some stickers that looked like jewels, and she decided that they would look best on her face.

I think these stickers make beautiful face ornaments!

Waiting to Shop

I had Katie out shopping with me over the weekend. I had run to the car with something, while Katie walked ahead with my mom and Jennifer. She beat me to the store and found the perfect place to wait.

Who doesn't love Target? They create the perfect waiting spot!

A Hair Salon

Katie often plays "hair salon" with her dolls. When she plays, all of her memories of her true life hair salon experiences with my mom and Garyldine come back. She's a pretty good hair dresser who specializes in putting on bridal veils.

If you hold really still, I'll get this veil on you correctly.

It's beautiful!

A Twirl

While Katie was getting ready for Halloween, she was doing plenty of running and twirling because she likes when her cape flies behind her. During one of her twirls, Jennifer decided to try out her slow motion camera. It's kind of fun to watch!

I love to twirl!

Is my cape still twirling?
