Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Playing

It's always fun to play, and Katie can turn almost anything into a toy!

There's someone on the wall!

Now she's over here!

What can I do with this bag?

I can grab it with my teeth!

I can carefully life it up without hands.

Just like Chloe!

More Fun with Winnie the Pooh

Winnie the Pooh continues to be Katie's best friend. Instead of just carrying him around, Katie has been trying to teach him everything she does. The other day, I got some pictures of her teaching Winnie to clap for her. I didn't happen to get pictures of her teaching him how to play her Chinese drum. Maybe I'll have another opportunity in the future. Here are some pictures of Katie's time with her friend:

Look at my tower, Winnie!

Now you need to clap for me like this. Don't forget to cheer!

This isn't just a sandwich holder.

It's a bed for you!

We have fun together!

After playing with Winnie for awhile one night, Katie still didn't want to put him down. Jennifer showed Katie how Winnie could go under her dress, and the elastic would hold him in with no hands needed. Katie thought it was the funniest thing ever!

I have a bear in my dress!

Aunt Jennifer always has the best ideas!

I can run through the house, and Winnie is still safe!

Fresh Air

Sometimes you can just tell when Katie needs some time outside. The other night, Katie needed some time outside, so we went out with Chloe and ended up spending quite a bit of time out there. She was a happy girl!

Come on, Chloe.

Katie: Let's keep going on a walk, Chloe! Why aren't you moving?
Chloe: How am I supposed to move with this leash going underneath my stomach?

Uh-Oh! I found the leash, but where's Chloe?

My mom must have put her in the house. I'll break in and get her out!

Story Time

While I've been home this summer, it's been fun to take Katie to the library for Story Time each week. She loves to hear the stories, really loves the music and dancing, has fun being with other kids her age, and just has fun exploring the library.

These shaker toys are perfect bracelets for me!

I'm so happy to pop bubbles at the library!

I'm so lucky! Miss Kendra left this extra book on the table, and I'm the first one to find it.

We're high up in the sky.

I'll show you how to separate these things.

Playing in the Boat

This library has the greatest activities!

I found a mirror!

It's so much fun to crawl through these tunnels!

When we got home, Katie found her own tunnel to crawl through, thanks to one of our side tables.

Uggg…this is a little tight!

What is the camera doing way down there?

Goodnight Story for Chloe

The other night, Katie decided to read a goodnight story to Chloe. After she read the story, she stopped and laughed at Chloe. Then Chloe moved, so Katie took her book and followed Chloe. When Chloe stopped, the pattern would continue again. Have I ever said that Chloe is a very patient dog?

Is she getting that book again?

Chloe is so funny!

Here I come, Chloe! I'll read it to you again!

I'm ready. Where did Chloe go?

A Walk Along the River

My mom and I decided to take Katie on a walk along the river this week. Even with morning clouds, it was a nice and relaxing walk. Katie started off pretty tired, but she got over it quickly when she realized that she had new places to explore!

I really want to take a nap right now. I was almost asleep in the car.

Now I'm happy - a bench I can climb up on myself!

What's back here?

I found two more benches!

Why do we have to go? I'll just sit down and stay here.

There are always a lot of interesting things to explore on a sidewalk.

I wonder if they'll notice if I just walk back to where we just were.

Okay, Grandma! We can go home now.

Right Outside the Front Door

As I've written many times, Katie loves to be outside. She's recently discovered some ways to entertain herself that are right out the front door.

I recently moved a plant out of this empty pot. Katie checks it every day to see if the plant has reappeared.

Talking to the Turtle - Katie loves this turtle. She checks in with it all the time. She even pretends to feed it!

A Couple of Funny Moments

Many times Katie just does simple things that make me laugh! I wish I could capture them all. Here are a couple of recent funny moments.
