Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Another Made-Up Costume

As much as Katie loves her princess costumes (and trust me, it's a lot), she still enjoys putting together her own costumes. Lately, she loves to have a cape on. She attaches one of her blankets around her with a clipping magnet. Most times, she thinks she's Elsa from Frozen. She has recently added a crown.

I usually wear my cape around my shoulders, but I thought I'd try it around my waist. My earmuffs always come in handy!

Going to a Show

I decided to take Katie to see her first live-performance show a couple of weekends ago…Sesame Street Live! Of course, I took her at the end of a very, very busy week, so she was more tired than usual, but she still had fun. For being tired, she was still really good. She just got restless near the end of the show and was up and down in her seat.

Katie was so excited to see the characters in person and was most thrilled when the characters would walk out into the aisles near her. She did a lot of waving! Since the show, she hasn't talked a whole lot about the main part of the show, but she has sung "Sunny Days" whenever she has seen the sun since the show.

I had never seen a poster this big!

I needed a booster seat, but Grandma didn't need one…yet!

I wanted the show to start as soon as we sat down, but I waited patiently with my mom.

I couldn't believe it when all the characters came out.
Oscar the Grouch made me laugh a lot!

I loved it!

Grover was in the play as a main character.

Coming to a show is fun!

At the end, I left with a balloon and an activity book. Thank you, Grandma!

A Shadow

After Katie's chocolate cupcake at music, Garyldine and Jim took her to Starbucks. It looked as though Katie and Jim had fun being each other's shadows!

I can look serious too!

Is he watching me?

It's sort of hard not to smile.

Let's just smile!

Wanna have a staring contest?

You made me laugh!

I can touch your nose!

You're fun!

A Birthday Celebration

One of Katie's friends from music celebrated his birthday by serving chocolate cupcakes at the end of the music class. It wasn't the day for Katie to be wearing mostly white!

Ms. Jodi stayed cleaner than I did!

I only got chocolate all over my face, on my white pants, and on my white sweater. No big deal!

Weather for Shorts

Katie is so happy to have warm weather. It's like the weather brings an extra burst of happiness! She loves to get outside and play.

I was supposed to be watering my flowers, but sometimes you just have to stop and appreciate the weather.

My flowers were happy to get a drink after my daydreaming!

I told my mom that my ears were cold on this 90 degree day, so I got my earmuffs.

The best part of my outside time was discovering our wildflowers again!
I picked one for Grandma and one for me, but I decided to keep them both!

Going on the Train

While my mom, Garyldine, and Katie were out shopping for Garyldine's birthday, they decided to take a train ride on the mall train.

I got to sit by Grandma!

We got to wave at all the people in the mall.

We all loved our train ride!

Setting Up a New Aquarium

Several weeks ago through a series of mishaps and cleaning, we discovered that our 30 gallon fish tank was leaking. We ended up emptying the whole tank and moving the fish into a big bucket until we could get a new tank. The night this happened was very exciting for Katie, but not so exciting for the rest of us!

After the big clean-up, I tried to build on Katie's excitement by taking her with me to the pet store to buy a new aquarium. We decided it was best to downsize to make everything a little easier and got a ten gallon tank. I let Katie choose the decorations, and it wasn't at all surprising to me that everything was pink and purple.

The hardest part of the new aquarium for Katie was having to wait to put the fish in after it was set up. She had a hard time understanding that the water had to be conditioned, but it was still fun to watch her decorations.

It's always fun to open a box.

I had to help wash all the gravel and decorations.

I got to choose where to put the decorations. Everything was perfect except...

…it needed King Triton next to it.

Even though there were no fish, I had fun watching the water and decorations!

A Substitute Teacher

Last week Katie got to her dance studio just as the announcement was made that she had a substitute teacher. Most times, Katie does okay with a substitute because she still has all of her friends with her. Her first question after a class with a substitute though is, "Where's Ms. Moriah?" She definitely misses her when she's gone.

When a substitute is there, not only does the class' teacher change, but everything they usually do changes for the week. In the end, it's good for the girls to experience change and learn new skills, but the change can be exhausting too. Katie holds it in until the end of class and then it comes out after class.

This time, when Katie heard there was a substitute, she wanted to climb up on the bench right away, so she could look through the window into the studio and see her teacher. When she looked in the window, she wasn't ready for the change that was coming. Her teacher was a "Mr." and not a "Ms."

She was hesitant to walk into the room with a "boy teacher," but she quickly relaxed. Mr. Marty worked with the girls a lot on balance. It can be pretty funny to watch a class of 3-years olds work on developing balance, but not one of them ever gave up trying.

The funniest part was near the end of the class. It was pretty easy to tell that all of the girls were getting worn out from all of the new skills. Pretty soon, the four girls started singing the music they have in their normal class and performed the accompanying dance for their new teacher. He just gave up for those last five minutes, smiled, and enjoyed the performance!

At the end of class, Katie completely shocked me. She ran out of the room and said, "Oh no! I forgot to say thank you!" She ran back in to thank her teacher and then gave him a hug. I guess she really enjoyed her class even though the next thing I heard from her was, "Where's Ms. Moriah?"

I didn't know what to think of having a boy teacher, but he was really nice!

We were all trying to hold a foot behind us in one hand and balance on the other foot. It was hard!

We kept trying though!

Trying a New March

Mr. Marty really liked it when we taught him "Three Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed."

Mother's Day Surprises

The day before Mother's Day, Jennifer's friend, Michele, came by the house with some surprises for Katie. She brought some roses for Katie to pass out for Mother's Day. She also brought Katie a sparkly necklace that Katie absolutely loved. The necklace had a turtle to help Katie remember the story of the Easter turtle that Michele had told her at Easter time.

Grandma is so special to me that I gave her two roses!

I was so excited to find a sparkly necklace!

My turtle is beautiful!

Can you see it? Thank you, Michele!

The Fairy House

When we planted our Mother's Day flowers, we figured it was the perfect day to find a spot for Katie's fairy house. She found a lot of places that she wanted to put her house. It has since been moved to one of our flower pots. (If you're searching for your own fairy houses, I highly recommend clicking on this link… Gnome and Fairy Houses )

I tried to find a spot to put my house where the fairies would be safe.

I thought they might like it by the tree.

Then I tried it under the bush. I can't wait for fairies to move into it!

A Present From Ian

Katie was so excited to receive an envelope in the mail from her cousin, Ian. When she opened it up, she became even more excited to see that it was a Disney World sticker book! After playing with it for awhile, Katie exclaimed, "I must get Ian a present!" She ran upstairs to get one of her pink bracelets and asked if we could mail it to Ian. I haven't had a chance to do that yet!

I feel so important when I get mail!

The cover of this book alone was great!

It was so bright and colorful!

Then I opened it and found stickers!

I found every Ariel sticker!

I especially liked the stickers where the characters were wearing Mickey Mouse ears!

Thank you, Ian! I love my present!

A Visit to Starbucks

After taking her to music class one day, Garyldine took Katie to Starbucks for a treat.

I got a cookie!

It was tasty!

We always have fun together!
