More Art

After Katie shared the last art piece with me, she told me she had two more. She works so hard on all of her art!

These are both characters from one of the shows I watch.

The Artist

Katie has had so much fun experimenting with paint pens.

I was proud of how my picture looked in the end.

A Double Take

I looked in the dining room to see a llama talking to her aunt.

Everyone is pretty used to me wearing my llama blanket wherever I am!

Pretty Trees

We had a very late fall, but the trees are finally starting to change color.

I took this picture walking home from the bus because I thought it looked so pretty.

Dark Mornings

It has been so dark in the mornings recently when Katie has been walking to her bus stop.

It feels sort of weird to leave for school in the darkness.

Checking Out Target's Christmas Items

When we were at Jennifer's house, Katie found Target's Christmas catalogue and was very happy to look through it. She wasn't very happy that I took her picture.

I'm just trying to look at my catalogue in peace!

Hanging Out in Bed

Katie loves her loft bed. It's always a comfortable spot in her room for reading.

Who wouldn't want to be surrounded with pillows?

Helping with the Vote

Katie can't vote yet, but she always wants to be part of it, so her job is to put our completed ballots in the envelopes before we mail them.

I can't wait until I can vote!

Hanging Out

Katie loves to hang out in her room, but she doesn't always love to clean her room.

I'm currently running away from the cleaning because it sounds too hard! I have good intentions though!

A Favorite Magazine

Katie is always happy when her favorite magazine arrives in the mail.

I read this magazine over and over when it arrives!

 

Katie and Her Blankets

When Katie goes upstairs at night, you can't really see her. You just see her blankets.

I don't want to take the chance of getting cold.

Presents for My Students

Katie was looking for something to draw the other night, so she found pictures of my students on my phone, and she drew them and made it a gift for them.

It's always good to practice drawing people!

When Katie isn't drawing on paper, she is drawing digitally. She loves it!

The Air

Although the fire boundaries pulled a bit further away from us, it is still close enough to give us pretty smoky air. We can't wait for the fire to get in control.

Between the fog and the smoke, our air is just soupy and stinky!

Wildfire

We have a wildfire in our county, and this past weekend, it got windy. With the wind, the fire increased tenfold. All of a sudden, we were in the area that was supposed to be ready to evacuate.

When we were at Aunt Jennifer's, the fire seemed so close. Luckily the wind calmed down and switched directions. We are impatiently waiting for the predicted rain this weekend.

A Furry Friend

When Katie got a blanket at Jennifer's house, Sophie quickly tried to get as close as possible to her.

Sophie was digging herself into my blanket. It was funny.

She finally got herself comfortable!

Breaking the Code

Katie had a really hard code in her book that she got. When she couldn't figure it out, she got my sister's assistance.

We were making slow progress on the code. Then Aunt Jennifer decided to write a program that could make the process fast!

Cozy Girl

You can often find Katie surrounded by warm blankets, pillows, and stuffed animals.

I like to feel comfortable and warm!

Enjoying the Day

Katie had the day off school while teachers had an inservice day, and she enjoyed the whole day.

My day consisted of staying in my pajamas all day and not cleaning my room. It was a great day off!

Checking on Me

Katie loves to ask me questions and then check my answers on Google.

There's no harm in double checking someone's facts!

What's in my Backpack?

Sometimes Katie gets inspired to get all the little, folded up pieces of paper out of her backpack to see what's inside.

You never know when you might find something important.

Another Visit to the Farmer's Market

Another weekend, another visit to the Farmer's Market.

We had a mission in mind this week. We knew exactly which sellers we wanted to visit!

Adding More

It didn't take long for Katie to add more to her new mini-comic strips.

I find it so relaxing to draw and create.

A Comic Strip

When Katie has extra time in one of her classes, she is able to sketch. She decided to create some mini-comic strips.

Even though I'm just starting on the pictures, I've determined the whole background of each of my characters.

Sharing Exciting News

Katie was so excited when she saw there was a Super Mario Bros. movie coming out that she had to call my sister right away.

Aunt Jennifer and I like Super Mario Bros.

A Fun, New Book

Katie started watching a series on Disney Plus called Gravity Falls. She got a new book that goes with it, which she has spent hours with over the last few days.

This book has secret codes throughout it.

I had to figure out the codes and then translate the messages.

Busy Cats

The cats have discovered that they can open cupboards and drawers, so they keep busy almost every night.

My mom usually finds all the open cupboards and drawers first, but...

...sometimes I help close them too!

Fall Pictures

Katie was happy to get her 6th grade pictures!

I am loving being a sixth grader!

The Farmer's Market

Katie loves going to the Farmer's Market, but we haven't gone in a long time. She was very excited to go again!

I was so happy to go shopping again - especially to find the baker that I love!

More Homework

Like most students, Katie doesn't enjoy homework. However, when she has it on weekends, she is trying to get it done earlier in the weekend.

I'm try to get my homework done, so I can enjoy the rest of my weekend.

A Summer Video

I was going through my phone the other day and found a video from our trip to the beach this summer. Katie decided to "tap dance" on the sand at sunset. She loves dancing!
