Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Happy Valentine's Day, 2018!

Katie enjoyed celebrating Valentine's Day this year with her friends at school. She really values the Valentines she gets. She brings them home and sorts them and reads them over and over again.

I like some of the treats I get on Valentine's Day, but my favorite part is the cards!

Painting

Recently I bought Katie some little painting kits, and she has loved them. She feels like such an artist because they come with small easels to put the paintings on when she is done.

I try to take my time to make my paintings as neat as I can.

I love artwork!

A New Favorite

Katie isn't what you would call an adventurous eater, but I talked her into trying something new recently...a sumo mandarin. She wasn't very excited about it at first because of its outside appearance, but as soon as she tried it, she loved it. Now she dreams about her sumo mandarins!

I wasn't sure about this weird-looking orange. I was really hoping it wouldn't taste funny!

I'm so glad I tried them though. Now my happiest times are when I get to choose new ones! Yum!

A Playground for Mr. Limpet

Katie is always looking for new ways to make Mr. Limpet happy. She decided to set up a playground for him with lots of toys and comfortable sleeping spots when he needed a break.

I wanted to give Mr. Limpet a choice of toys.

It's fun to play together!

One of My Favorite Days

February 24 will always hold a special place for me. It was seven years ago today that I found out I had finally been matched with Katie. It had been a long wait, and I had heard over and over that I would get matched at just the right time with just the right baby. All of those people who said that were right.

My mom finally saw me seven years ago. I was dressed in lots and lots of layers, and I was called Fu Jing Tian.

I've gotten a lot bigger, but just like seven years ago, I still love music and dancing!

Brown Lunch Bags

When I found some lunch bags at home, I put them in the car to take to school and use there. When Katie saw them, she asked if she could keep some of them and turn them into puppets. She had so much fun with them.

I put different faces on each paper bag.

It's always fun to use markers on something other than white paper!

Magnetic Dolls

After her trip to Disneyland, Katie was inspired to play with her magnetic dolls. Instead of the paper dolls of days gone by, there are now magnetic dolls with different outfits that just attach to the dolls. Katie loves them!

I love trying different outfits on different dolls!

Back with Mr. Limpet

As much as Katie loves Disneyland, she's always glad to get back home and see her pets. The first night we were home, Katie pretty much went straight to bed, but the second night, she caught up with The Incredible Mr. Limpet.

Mr. Limpet loves to lay on a soft blanket and have me pet him.

After he goes to sleep, I wrap him up to keep him warm.

Three Wishes

Before we had to leave for the airport, Katie had three wishes. She wanted to meet Moana and Minnie Mouse, and she wanted to eat "the gray stuff." She was able to do all three!

While I waited to meet Moana, I drew extra details in my autograph book.

I just love Moana!

I also love the gray stuff! It's delicious!

Under the frosting, you can find sweet, fresh raspberries and some red velvet cake!

I finally caught up with Minnie Mouse!

It was the perfect way to end our trip!

Finally

Ever since Katie got her first autograph book, she has wanted to meet Rapunzel again, and it never seemed to be the right time to see her. She finally had her opportunity this trip. Not only did she see Rapunzel, but she got to see Flynn there too.

Flynn signed his autograph first.

While he signed, we talked about favorite rides. I told him I really liked The Mad Tea Party.

He told me Rapunzel made the mistake of going on the teacups when her hair wasn't braided, and...

...her hair got all twisted around the teacups as they spun around!

They were fun!

Our Last Morning

We had reached our last morning at the parks, and we decided we wanted to spend part of our time in DCA and part of our time in Disneyland. We started in DCA and headed back to the Chinese New Year section before it got too crowded. While we were there, we went to the special section for Annual Passholders, and Katie was able to make another wish on the wishing wall there.

I was perky and ready to begin my last day.

I tried to get my picture with this statue the first day I saw it, but the park was too crowded, and I couldn't get my picture.

We got a picture together, and...

...I got a picture by myself too!

I was able to make a second wish in the Annual Passholder's section. I wished that I would get to play with my cousins this year.

When I was done, I hung it on the wishing wall.

There was a lot of space to hang my wish because the other wishes had been pushed to the ends.

While we were there, I took one last opportunity to ride King Triton's carousel.

I'm going to miss this ride. It's sad that they're changing it!

An Afternoon with Characters

The rest of that afternoon, we went on plenty of rides, but Katie also got to see a lot of characters.

One of the characters I wanted to meet for sure was Minnie Mouse. I happened to pass her in the street. I didn't get to talk to her, but I did get to hug her as she passed by us!

Daisy Duck was available though!

She's always friendly!

Bye, Daisy!

Last time we were here, I had wanted to meet Buzz Lightyear, but I kept missing him.

While I waited in line to meet Buzz Lightyear, this service dog got a picture with him, and we loved his hat!

Aunt Jennifer asked if she could get a picture of him!

Later that day, we went back to Disneyland Park, and as we entered Main Street, there were a lot of characters playing a game of Lava!

It seemed like more and more characters appeared!

It was fun to watch them find a place to stand in their game.

I'm not sure who won, but I think Donald Duck thought he should have won!

Mulan's Lunar New Year Celebration

We headed back to Disney California Adventure Park that afternoon because we had missed Mulan's Lunar New Year Celebration the day before, and we wanted to make sure to see it during our weekend. Katie loved seeing Mulan and Mushu again, and she also loved the beautiful costumes and music.

I was excited when I started to see the performers come down the street.

Two of the first characters to get there were Mulan and Mushu!

The performers had so many different costumes and all different talents.

We were at one of the edges of the performance, and we got to see this dancer/drummer a lot. I really liked her!

I loved these beautiful umbrellas that looked like flowers!

Once the drummers started drumming, we saw lots of other dancers.

There were bright colors everywhere.

Goofy also made an appearance, looking very handsome in his Chinese clothes!

I loved watching this man with his Chinese yo-yo. I had never seen a Chinese yo-yo before!

My mom tried to get some pictures of me with the performers in the background, but it was hard since we were all squeezed in so close.

I was so happy when Mushu walked in front of me!

I liked watching the costumes twirl with the dancers.

I had one last chance to see the performers as they exited.

Bye, Goofy!

This was at the beginning of the procession.

This was part of the performance.

After the parade, I wanted to take my mom on Jumpin' Jellyfish. As we waited in line, we saw these people walking down the street. We asked Aunt Jennifer and Grandma to go get a picture with them because I thought they were beautiful!

Aunt Jennifer decided I should get a picture too, so she lifted me out of line, I got a picture, and she put me back in line! They were all very nice!

Luckily I got back in time for my jellyfish to start jumping!

We also stopped to watch the GuGu Drum Group from Shanghai. I loved the whole celebration!
