Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Yuck!

Katie has never been a picky eater until recently. Well actually, I don't think she has become so much of a picky eater as she has discovered a new behavior to try out. Lately when I give Katie food (even if it's food I know she likes), she shakes her head no.  A lot of times, if I can get a little food in her mouth, she'll realize she likes the food and will keep eating. Other times, she'll take the food out of her mouth and stick her tongue out until she knows it won't come back in her mouth. She'll usually eat that same food later when she gets hungrier. Hopefully, it won't be a long-lasting phase in her life! It's so funny though to watch the different behaviors appear and to watch her explore those behaviors.

Ewww! What is this vile piece of food? (It was a small piece of a pancake.)

Here, you can have it back!

Can you believe she'd try to put that in my mouth?

I'll just sit like this, so she can't put any more food in my mouth!

That Looks Fun

The other night, I was taking the garbage out, and while I was gone, Katie took an interest in the empty garbage can. With Aunt Jennifer's help, she got a close-up view!

Look at my new place to play!

Look at me, Chloe! Do you want to get in?

Katie's Carefree Ways

Every once in awhile, Katie will do something that just sort of stops me in my tracks. I quite often see things that I never saw in my house before Katie.  Just as I quite often laugh at things that I would have never thought to laugh at. I love that she does a lot of thinking, but she has a whole different way of thinking about things.

For example, the other day Katie was drinking some water out of her favorite cup, and when she was finished, she determined the best place for her unfinished water was in the middle of the floor where people and dogs walk back and forth.  She didn't care that the water could be tipped over. She didn't care that Chloe might lick her straw. In her eyes, it was just the perfect place for her water!

Outdoor Fun

With summer arriving, we've had some nicer weather - well at least we have sometimes! Whenever the nice weather appears, Katie would like to be outside whenever possible. She's happy to go on a walk or to just spend time outside around the house.

I see a bird! Quack, quack!

Checking out the back view with Chloe.

I think this light needs to be moved!

Wow! I can move this screen door back and forth!

You're not taking me back in, are you?

Checking on our Mother's Day flowers.

I'm ready to water the flowers.

Look how tall I look when I walk down the street on my own!

I love the nice weather!

I found some flowers.

Admiring our tree.

Checking the neighbor's backyard.

Look at these flowers, Chloe!

Winnie the Pooh

My mom bought Katie a small Winnie the Pooh bear a few months ago. Katie has recently discovered the joys of having a bear friend. She carries him around with her everywhere, and when she's not holding him, he's always close by, so she can quickly reach him.

More Time at Grandma's and Grandpa's

My sister, Jennifer, and I were still spending lots of time at my parents' house to do a little bit of touch-up work on their living room and kitchen before we moved onto painting the bathroom and bedroom.  Katie kept herself entertained with all of the new things around her.

I'll try out these old phones.

That nice girl who looks like me is still here!
