Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Waiting to Vote

It was time to vote in our primary. Katie cannot wait to vote, so while we vote, she stays with us the whole time to watch us. Sometimes she follows along in the voter's guide, and sometimes she just sits with us. Since she can't vote yet though, we let her put our ballots in the mailbox, so she can feel like she's part of it.

I can't wait until I can mail my own ballet!

The First Blackberries

Katie was so excited when she could finally pick some wild blackberries. It's always such a wait for them to ripen!

The first day I pick berries, I get a small handful. Then my supply grows and grows each day!

It's Hot!

You always know it's a hot day when we're out on a walk, and Katie starts running as fast as she can when we get to our street, so she can get to the air conditioning.

When I forget to wear a sun hat on sunny days, I get so hot!

A Short Walk

After our picnic, we went on a short walk. We would have gone on a longer walk if there hadn't been as many people there.

It was a pretty, but a hot, day!

Grandma and I wore our sun hats to try to stay cooler.

My feet still aren't quite as big as Big Foot's.

I just let Big Foot do his work in the background as I stood quietly nearby!

A Picnic

On weekends when it's nice, we like to get out of the house and go for a picnic. On this particular day, we couldn't find a shady picnic table, so Katie and Jennifer moved under a tree to eat their lunch.

It was more comfortable in the shade than out in the sun!

A Good Morning Hug

Katie loves to hug her cats in the morning.

Whenever I hug General Washington, his tail hugs me back!

Hearing from Someone Special

Katie was so excited to get a card in the mail from my friend, Noreen. We are so happy that she is back home and feeling better!

I couldn't wait to read my card from Grammy Noreen!

Thank you so much for the card and gift! It was so nice of you!

A Lost Tooth

Katie was at my sister's house eating an ice cream bar, and with one of the bites, one of her teeth came out. It was so surprising to her when it happened.

My tooth was covered in chocolate, so I had to wash it off before I took it home.

Learning to Knit

Over the summer, Katie and I decided to learn how to knit together. We got a set of knitting looms and have gotten a start.

It took us awhile when we first started our scarf.

Then, as we got the hang of it, it started going faster.

Always Close By

Wherever Katie is, the cats are always close by.

Sometimes they like to hide, but I like knowing the cats are always near.

Yummy

Katie had some leftovers after we had gotten take out, and when she warmed them up, she was a little disappointed that her French fries were no longer crispy, but she thought they were delicious anyway.

My French fries stood up the night before!

Having Fun

Katie loves trying on glasses!

It's fun to try on different things!

Happy Flowers

While Katie is waiting for our blackberries to ripen, she gets lots of joy from the daisies that are close by to our house.

I think daisies are the happiest looking flowers there are!

I like to choose the perfect ones to pick.

This was a good one to begin with.

I ended up with the perfect small bunch for a vase!

Spending Time Outdoors

When we were checking on the blackberries again, Katie decided to spend a little more time outside.

This is one of my favorite rocks outside! It's easy to climb on!

Another Note

After opening her thank you card, Katie found another card in the mail from her friend. She was so excited to read it!

It hadn't been that long since I heard from my friend, but it felt like a long time!

Pure Joy

Katie had given a going away gift to one of the teachers at school who is moving to another school, and she was so excited when she got a thank you card in the mail from her.

I love hearing from other people!

Looking for a Turtle

When we were out for a walk, a neighbor told us that there was a big turtle who lived by the pond in her neighborhood. Of course, Katie wanted to go look for the turtle. Who wouldn't?

It was a pretty pond, but we didn't find the turtle on this day!

Another Fort

When the cats were both wanting to sit on the blanket next to Katie, she decided to build them a fort with blankets that they could share.

I always need to borrow a dining room chair to give my tent support on all sides.

The trickiest part of tent-building is figuring out how to make the blankets stick in place!

This was perfect for the cats!

A Day for Slime

It had been awhile since we made any slime and Katie was in the mood for slime-making.

First, I measure out all of the ingredients.

When all of the ingredients are in, that's when the mixing gets fun.

When you first start mixing, it's really sticky!

Slime is done! Time to play!

Waiting for the Blackberries

It's at this time of year that Katie patiently starts waiting for the blackberries to get ripe. Every once in awhile, we check on their progress.

I saw a couple that were starting to get dark.

It won't be long until I can pick some berries.

Hi, Friend

Another day, another cat picture...

I wish I could just take this cat home with me!

Playing Monopoloy

Katie has been in the mood for Monopoly lately. She beat all of us in the last game by building hotels on two property sets.

I think Monopoly is so much fun!

A Snapchat 4th of July

We didn't do much for the 4th of July this year. According to Katie, it was the most boring 4th of July ever. The neighborhood parade that she loves was a no-go, and we watched the fireworks on TV. The one thing that seemed normal was to take a picture with a Snapchat filter.

I wore a dress that reminded us of fireworks, but that was about the limit to our celebrations this year!

Loving Sophie

Who doesn't need an extra hug at night?

Sophie is a very loving dog!

Taking Care of Sophie

Our dog, Sophie, is scared to death of fireworks, so the 4th of July is not a celebration for her. Since they're a lot quieter at our house than they are at my sister's where Sophie lives, we took care of her for a couple of nights.

I had fun plying with Sophie and the tennis ball all night.

Not Just a One Time Thing

Yesterday, I posted a picture of Katie watching TV in her "comfortable" pose. That wasn't just a one time occurrence. This happens every day.

Sometimes I like my leg to be straight up in the air.

Sometimes I like to rest my foot on my shoulder.

Sometimes I like it somewhere in between.

Just Relaxing

When Katie watches TV, she relaxes in a completely different way than me!

I don't know why my mom thinks this looks uncomfortable.

A Trip to the Lake

My mom, sister, Katie, and I decided to drive to the lake for a picnic. We decided to go for my dad's birthday since it was one of his favorite places to visit. It was such a nice day and we were able to safely distance ourselves from other visitors.

We found an empty table pretty quickly and started unloading everything.

Aunt Jennifer is usually in charge of unloading everything.

I brought a sunhat to wear, but I let Grandma use it.

 We all love it here!

We decided to go on a small walk after we ate lunch.

Aunt Jennifer introduced me to her app on her phone. We could take a picture of the plants, and the app told us what it was.

We found lots of plants to identify.

This is my mom's favorite! It's a dogwood species.

This was our turn around spot.

It was a good day!
