Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

A Halloween Celebration

Katie's pre-school has an evening Halloween celebration, so students can come dressed in their costumes and have fun with their friends. Katie loves to go and get her treats. They give out things like erasers, puzzles, and pencils. The one treat students get to eat is Katie's favorite - an orange!

Katie has been having a hard time throughout this season trying to decide which of her costumes she wanted to wear. With this celebration, she decided to be Tinkerbell since it was held inside. That costume is a little chilly this time of year for an outside costume, so this was the perfect opportunity.

As I drove Katie to the celebration, I reminded her that she had to say, "Trick or Treat," when she saw someone giving treats away. I then reminded her that she had to say, "Thank you," when she got something. After the reminder, I heard a quiet and continual chant coming from the back seat. "Trick or treat…thank you! Trick or treat…thank you! Trick or treat…thank you!"

My costume reminded me of being at Disneyland last year! I want to go back!

I waited patiently at the school to get all of my treats! While I waited, I found friends that were in my class.

When I got home, I looked a little different!

The Pumpkin Patch, 2015

It was time for our annual trip to pumpkin patch. As always, Katie had a lot of fun!

Of course we had to begin with our annual picture, 2015,...

2014,...

2013,...

2012, and...

2011. I've grown a lot!

It was fun to climb up the hay bale pyramid!

I liked watching everyone below.

This was the first year that I climbed to the very top.

I did have to take some time to brush the hay and dirt off my hands though.

This was also the first year that I was so brave with the animals.

The goats liked me, and...

…I loved the donkey.

I said, "Mooo!" to the cow for awhile.

Then I saw the cute pigs, and...

…the huge turkeys.

I tried to drive the tractor again, but...

…my legs were still too short to push the pedals.

I was excited to get to the pumpkin patch by hayride.

When we got there, of course I had to pose with the pumpkins.

Plus, I had to take time to smell the flowers.

Then it was time to start picking pumpkins.

This one looked perfect!

After we chose the pumpkins, we had a long walk back to the hayride line.

The second hayride was as much fun as the first.

When we got back, we had to scrub the pumpkins until...

…they sparkled!

I tried to have hot chocolate this year. After burning my tongue, I just decided to lick the lid!

Painting a "Pumpkin"

Over the next few days, I'll post some Halloween celebrations. Then I'll return to chronological order...

Katie found a little squash at the store that she called a pumpkin. She wanted to paint her "pumpkin" instead of carving it.

First, I had to plan for my pumpkin.

I chose four colors of paint.

I decided to paint a scary face pumpkin.

After I painted the face, I painted the rest.

I decided to make a scary face with my pumpkin.

Then I made a happy face!

A Special Ice Cream Treat

When Katie was with Garyldine and Aunt Jody, she got to take her first trip to Cold Stone. She has never had such a big ice cream cone. She's still working on finishing it!

Garyldine, Aunt Jody, and I always go to fun places!

Look at my huge ice cream cone!

Reading the Library Books

Katie decided to read her library books to the puppies. One puppy was a good listener, one was not.

Bailey knew that she was supposed to listen to the story.

Sadie thought she was supposed to eat it!

Dressing Up Elsa

One day while Katie was playing with Play-Doh, she decided to enhance Elsa's dress by giving her a warmer outfit.

I loved Elsa's coat and hat!

Keeping the House Clean

Katie is always happy to help me clean the house. In addition to our regular cleaning, she loves to wash her play dishes by hand whenever she gets the chance.

It's always important to clean your cooking dishes.

Going to a Play

While everyone was out of town, I decided to take Katie to a play at the local children's theater. They were putting on a show about two of Katie's favorite book characters, Elephant and Piggie. She reads the Mo Willems' books all the time, so I thought she'd be excited to see, "We Are in a Play!"

Katie decided to dress up for the play with lots of accessories. When we got to the theater, we explored the lobby and waited patiently for the show to begin.

The play was the perfect length for someone Katie's age - about an hour. Katie loved watching the stories come to life and also loved the music that was part of the play. After the play, Katie got to meet Elephant and Piggie and have them sign her programs. It was a fun experience for her!

As I got ready for the play, I decided that I needed my sparkly dog purse and my huge Minnie Mouse bow. My mom told me I couldn't wear the bow for the show because no one would be able to see behind me.

It was fun to play in the lobby before the show started.

Piggie was really nice!

Elephant was too!

It was so much fun to watch the play!

Getting Mail from Grandma and Aunt Jennifer

Katie was excited to get a postcard in the mail. My mom and sister had sent it from the airport, so she would receive something from them while they were gone.

I loved getting my postcard!

Another Day at Garyldine's

Katie continued having fun at Garyldine's house the next day as well.

I love to play with Philomena!

While Grandma and Aunt Jennifer were watching the men keep guard at Buckingham Palace,...

…I was watching the birds keep guard at the bird feeder!

Aunt Jody made me cookies with M&Ms in them. I loved them!

I also took time to play with Charlie! It was a great day!
