Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Hold My Hand

After we had lunch on our busy day in Idaho, Katie found Andrew and decided that he should hold her hand. He had other ideas!

Let's hold hands!

Let me show you what to do!

Don't try to go somewhere else.

I'll just take your pacifier until you cooperate.

Maybe I should give this back since he won't even look at me.

You can have it back, Andrew!

Do you think he'll hold my hand now?

Visiting Friends

On the day we were decorating the graves, we took a small break to visit some family friends. We stopped by one of our friend's beauty shops while my former piano teacher was there to get her hair done. It's always fun to catch up with friends!

Beauty shops are always fun for me!

Breakfast at the Hotel

While we were in Idaho, we took advantage of our hotel's daily breakfast buffet. Katie loved it! She sampled lots of different kinds of food.

I think I'll try this watermelon.

Will I like it?

Yes, of course I will!

I didn't realize how messy my hands would get!

Hmmm…I need a towel for sure!

Towel please!

Would you like to try a bagel?

I think I'll go for more watermelon!

Memorial Day Weekend in Idaho

Just like last year on Memorial Day, we once again returned to Idaho to put flowers on the graves of people who were important to us. This year, Katie enjoyed herself a lot more than last year. She was a trooper on our busy day!

I wanted to help Aunt Jennifer clean my great-grandparents' headstone.

I scrubbed it long and hard.
I even made up a slow paced song about scrubbing.

When we went to the second cemetery, we went to see the ducks, geese, and the small play area. We turned the corner, and we were shocked to see geese under the picnic table. As the babies started towards us, the big geese came running after us to protect the babies. We stayed at a safe distance, but we had fun watching them!

I had just backed up from the very large geese.

The geese were watching us closely.

I found a slide!

My mom played on this exact slide when she was little!

Here are some of the ducks we saw.

I found this, Tristan! You can have it.

You've gotta get up and keep moving!

It was so bright that I put on my Hello Kitty sunglasses.

Tristan got to wear Aunt Jennifer's sunglasses.

Sometimes it's nice to look at each other without sunglasses though.

Andrew found the dirty water that we used to water the flowers.

He decided to clean his pacifier in it.

Tristan decided to drink the water.

I thought I better go explore the fun with the water.

I saw it was dirty and stepped back at a safe distance!

Last year, all I did was cry when I was by this grave.

This year I did a small dance!

Garyldine helped me water the flowers.

Tristan borrowed my sunglasses...

...then Andrew did.
They look good in Hello Kitty!

I was so happy to get back to our hotel room that I danced in front of the full length mirror!

Then I found a bag to play in.

It's kind of fun to jump in a paper bag!

Visiting Uncle Bill and Aunt Carmen

We took our annual trip to Idaho for Memorial Day this year. My mom took Katie one day ahead of me. They stopped an my uncle and aunt's house for the night. My cousins and their kids met them for dinner, and Katie was in seventh heaven.

Uncle Bill quickly became Katie's hero when he showed her the pond in the back of the house and let her throw rocks and feed the fish in the pond. She is still talking about feeding the fish.

Katie also had fun playing with her little cousins. She had new toys to play with at the house and new people to enjoy them with.

As we were going home after our trip, we passed the turn off to Uncle Bill's house, and we must have said something about him. Katie started saying, "Uncle Bill! Uncle Bill! Uncle Bill!" I think she would have gone back to his house in an instant!

Uncle Bill let me throw rocks in his pond.

Did you see how far that one went?

My cousins, Angie and Lincoln, have kids about my age!
We had fun playing together!

I just love you, Uncle Bill!

I'm getting better at this rock-throwing business.

Thanks for letting me play at your pond!

Look! I found a new dog to play with!

I had fun looking out the window with Uncle Bill.
I sure liked playing out there!

Yoda liked to be petted.

Yoda's a nice dog like Chloe!

Thanks for playing with me, Uncle Bill!

Aunt Carmen deserves a special thank you for giving me a bath in this tub!

I slept really good after all of my fun!

When my mom and Aunt Jennifer came the next day,
Uncle Bill let me show them how to feed the fish.

Enjoy the food, goldfish!
