Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Fun with Her Cat

General Washington loves Katie, and he doesn't like me to interrupt their time together.

I love General Washington, and...

...he loves me!

However, he wonders why my mom interferes with her camera!

Fun with Grandma

Katie can always find ways to have fun with my mom!

Grandma and I both love to laugh!

Playing

Katie always likes to go to my sister's house because she has different toys there than at home. Even though she can play in the toy room, she often brings toys downstairs so she can be in the same room with everyone else. When she does that, she likes to play at the kitchen island, so the dogs can't reach her toys.

Why sit in a bar stool when I can just sit on the island?

Decorating the Play Room

Katie was inspired to put up more Christmas decorations after helping Jennifer with her tree, so she ran up to the play room and made her own decorations. She was so proud of them!

I put white string and Styrofoam balls around the floor to represent snow.

Then I added red border to the TV. It looked perfect!

Putting Up a Tree

We are not putting our Christmas tree up for a bit since our cats like to tear it down, but nothing was stopping Jennifer from putting hers up, and Katie was so excited to help.

First I had to help Aunt Jennifer carry all of her Christmas decorations downstairs.

Then we got started decorating the tree.

Aunt Jennifer and I both had to use a stool to reach the top of the tree.

I love all of her Disney ornaments!

I thought her tree looked so good when it was done!

School PIctures

Katie recently received her third grade fall picture. She looks so grown up!

I picked my own clothes for my school picture this year!

Adding Fluff

Although Katie has made batch upon batch of slime, she had never made fluffy slime. She was so excited to get some shaving cream to try it.

As soon as I got home from dancing, I started whipping up my fluffy slime!

Ballet

Katie's ballet lessons have continued. She reports that her leg muscles are less sore than they used to be after her ninety minute class.

I was surprised at how tired my legs used to get after my lessons. My muscles are stronger now though!

More Slime

I often wonder when Katie's slime fascination will end, but it doesn't seem close to doing so. Even when she doesn't have glue to make slime, she's constantly trying out her own recipes for it.

I made this soft, sort-of-slime out of flour, water, and sugar.

The New Bed

Katie loves the fact that she has her very own desk that sits under her bed. She spends a lot of time there!

I spend most of my time at my desk writing!

A Walk Through the Woods

As we were headed back home, we decided to take a short walk through the woods to see if we would find anything interesting. There wasn't anything out of the ordinary, but it was pretty.

The last time I walked through here I found a nest with blue eggs in it.

I looked carefully for something like that, but I didn't find anything.

I love to be outside!

To the Hilltop

While we were outside, Katie wanted to walk to the top of the hill, where she picks blackberries in the summer. She had good memories of being there and watching all of the caterpillars a few months ago. The caterpillars were gone, but she found something new.

I always like to check out the view from a little higher up!

Look what I found! They looked like grape tomatoes! I wonder what they were.

Beautiful Autumn

Right after enjoying a bit of summer, Katie found a piece of autumn...a tree that was still holding onto its yellow leaves. She loves the colors of autumn!

Most of the leaves have fallen, but these yellow ones were sure pretty!

A Bit of Summer

There aren't many reminders of summer left, but Katie found one.

Most of our marigolds have died, but this one is still holding on!

Playing with Dolls

I love to watch Katie play with dolls! It brings back such fun memories!

This doll is fun because her dress changes with a simple pull of a string!

A Treat

After playing in the park, we stopped at the grocery store for something to drink. Katie decided to try cherry Hint water, and she loved it!

This was the perfect flavor for me!

Visiting a City Park

My mom and sister had eye appointments last weekend, so Katie and I decided to go into the city with them. While they went to the doctor, we went to a park to hang out and have fun.

I thought I'd try out this big swing first.

After that, I went to a regular swing.

I loved going up and over this wobbly bridge!

It was pretty fun!

Finally, I met some elephant friends!

A Visitor

This weekend, we had a visitor that came right next to our house - a beautiful bobcat. We've seen bobcats before, and it doesn't get old. We love that we have some green space around to see these creatures!

We watched as the bobcat came out of the woods and walked up the access road by our house.

I loved it, and I named it Fred!

We were so excited to watch Fred!

Happy Veteran's Day

To celebrate Veteran's Day, Katie completed a project for her grandpa and Aunt Debby to hang on the school wall as a thank you to their service.

Fun with Glasses

When we were at Costco with Jennifer and my mom who were looking for new glasses, Katie tried on a few frames for fun. Her face looks good in glasses!

These were my favorite frames! I like that they had a touch of pink.

Lego Time

While Jennifer was out working in her yard, Katie took time to build with Legos.

Even though I like to use Lego directions to build something specific, I also like to make my own creations!

It's always fun!

A Christmas Festival

We went to an early Christmas Festival this year where vendors were selling food and gifts. We were all so excited to move on from Halloween this year that we couldn't wait to see some Christmas. Now that we had some taste of it, we can focus on Thanksgiving for awhile!

Christmas makes me happy!

Exploring the Convention Center

Last weekend we headed to the Convention Center. Before doing anything else, my sister, Jennifer, took Katie around to see what they could find.

I love to hang out with Aunt Jennifer!

We found this pendulum hanging from the ceiling!

A Halloween Pizza

Katie decided to make herself another pizza, and she decided to make it look like a jack-o-lantern.

I love making my own pizzas.

Kitty Love

Katie loves her cat!

My mom says to not pet Mr. Limpet when he jumps on the counter, but I just can't help it!

A Fall Hike

My sister, Jennifer, decided that she wanted to go on a small hike, and it didn't take much more than that to excite Katie. She has missed hiking since summer ended.

I decided to stop at this bench, so I could take some pictures.

We saw lots and lots of waterfalls on this hike.

Sometimes I walked with Aunt Jennifer, and sometimes I walked with my mom.

I was very happy that Aunt Debby got me this camera for my birthday.

We found a lot of pretty areas!

We decided to stop at a spot with a lot of rocks to eat a snack.

The river next to us was running so fast that it was loud!

I taught Aunt Jennifer how to Dab.

After our snack, we explored the river.

We live in a pretty area!

I have really missed hiking.

Who wouldn't want to be out in nature?

I loved this part of a trail. It was like a half-cave!

A little ways past it, we found another waterfall.

Aunt Jennifer let me throw some rocks in the river. That's one of my favorite things to do!

It was time to head back.

What a fun use of our weekend!

I hope to see more scenes like this sometime soon!
