Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Sharing the Castle

As much as Katie loves her castle tent that my mom and dad got her for her birthday, I think our cat, Bingle, might love it even more. Every day, Bingle finds time to jump in the castle and play likes she's a kitten again. Katie thinks it's funny, so she's happy to share.

Bingle really likes my castle.

Sometimes she thinks no one sees her in there!

I'm happy to share!

Super Katie

When I was out shopping with Jennifer, she found a superhero cape that she thought every girl should have. Katie loved it.

Thank you, Aunt Jennifer! I love my cape!

The next morning, I put my cape on before I did anything else!

Excitement

Katie was so happy when I took her to dance class last week when she discovered that her friend, Kyla, was back. It thrilled her to no end! I didn't think she would get any happier until I told her that Kai was waiting at home to play with her. "Let's go home!" was all she could say.

Kai was interested in my Barbie camper, so I showed him how it worked.

He was confused about how to make Ken shower.

Later we decided to color. As soon as we started, Kai discovered my hopper and decided he better try it.

I showed him how to use it.

Then Kai took off with it!

When we got tired, I decided to play with princesses.

Kai tried to figure out how all of my princess toys worked.

Then we went to an old favorite…my zoo!

I discovered that Kai is very strong. He kept burying me in the zoo.

We traded places and passed animals back and forth through the secret door.

Before he left, I tried to teach Kai how to fish.
Thanks for making my Saturday fun!

A Hunt

A couple of weeks ago, we had a bit of a wind storm, and it blew a lot of small twigs and branches off of our neighborhood trees. Katie has decided it's a great idea to hunt for sticks on our walks. We're getting quite a collection of sticks.

One night I found a long stick. I don't know why everyone told me to be careful with it.

On this night, I had my duck to walk, leaves, and a handful of sticks. My hands and legs were full!

A Lesson from the Bats

When we went to the zoo, Katie was really interested in how the bats hang upside down from the ceiling. She decided to use her bat lesson in her creative play.

I can make my dolls hang off their bunk beds like bats!

Wow! Three of them can hang by their feet at once!

A Day at the Zoo

We decided to head back to the zoo for a day of fun!

We went to the zoo on a really hot day. The tiger was panting.

The bats weren't doing much of anything but hanging around.

The flamingos were sleeping too.

One of the alligators moved right in front of me!

It was pretty exciting to watch!

We never knew our zoo had porcupines until this visit.

My favorite is always the giraffes!

The hippos kept putting their heads above water right before me too. I must have looked friendly on this day!

The polar bear was hanging out in the cool water. I didn't blame him!

Tapping

Since Katie is now taking the dance classes for 4-5 year olds, she is learning a lot more about tapping technique. Each tap shoe week, the students stand at the barre for a good amount of time and practice the steps over and over. Katie talks a lot about "shuffling with Ms. Moriah" whenever she thinks of tap dancing.

We have to follow Ms. Moriah as we practice our steps.

We have to practice our tapping march.

Dental Care

I try to give Katie's dental care high priority, even when she doesn't enjoy it. The other night she decided to help in the upkeep of her teeth. She tore a little string off of her celery and started flossing her teeth with it. I was a little surprised since she doesn't like to floss her teeth…EVER…except with celery.

I like to keep my teeth as clean as I can.

The Hopper

Katie loves the hopper that her Aunt Debby gave her for her birthday. It didn't take her long to figure out how to work it, and to her, it's so much more fun than walking!

Enjoying the Hopper

An Old Friend

Sometimes old friends take a bit of a back seat when new friends come into our lives. Katie let her old friend know that he will always be loved even though he isn't a princess.

Winnie the Pooh will always have a special place in my heart.

I love him!

A New Costume

We were out shopping when Katie's dream came true…an Elsa costume right before her eyes. She thinks she has decided what she wants to be for Halloween.

I finally have a beautiful dress with a cape!

I practiced singing all of the Frozen songs on my "stage."

While I built my imaginary ice palace, I tried to use the same hand movements as Elsa.

"It's a match!"

A Fun Day with Kai

After Katie's dance class, she got to come home and play with Kai while Kathy worked with Jennifer. They had lots of fun and giggles together!

Kai and I like our food sets that you can cut apart. He was pretty good at cutting.

He brought over birthday gifts for me. It was so nice of him!

One of my gifts was a travel pack with paper and colored pencils. We used it together.

We drew a rainbow!

I was good at taking out the pencils. Kai was good at putting them back in.

After we colored, we went to play with my zoo that I put in my new castle tent.

It was so much fun!

When my mom had one of the zoo animals, we pretended like we were scared of it attacking us.

Our giggles got louder as the lion came after us!

We wore ourselves out with the zoo, so we decided to cook. While we were getting our things together, I accidentally spilled a cup of "tea" on Kai's back.

I'm pretty good at sharing my things with Kai, but I wouldn't let him hold my baby.

I let him hold Ariel instead.

He decided to put coffee in Ariel's eyes.

I decided to save Ariel and read to Kai.

He thought it was a good idea, so we both read. I love having Kai as a friend!

This was when we were being "attacked" by zoo animals. My mom had to teach me how to hold onto Kai without putting him in a choke hold.

Back to Dancing

After a couple of weeks off, Katie went back to dancing. She is back to having her original teacher - Ms. Moriah, but she let me know that she wants to take lessons from both Ms. Moriah and Ms. Jessica. Her dance studio has such good teachers. You're lucky no matter who you get.

It was my turn to walk over to the barre.

I felt pretty grown up in my new class.

I wish I could turn and look as straight as Ms. Moriah.

Even though I was excited to get back to dancing, I was really tired after a very busy week. I decided to just rest my head a little.

This year, we're working on hand positions to go with our jumping. Sometimes it's hard to put my arm movements and leg movements together!
