Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Happy Independence Day, 2015!

This year, Katie had a more exciting holiday than usual. My uncle, aunt, cousin, cousin's husband, and cousin's four year old son were here to visit. Katie loves all company, but she was most excited to have someone her own age around. Katie and Kelton had already spent two days becoming good friends, so by the time today hit, they were both excited to walk in our annual neighborhood parade together.

After the parade and spending a bit of time at the park together, we came home to visit and eat. Katie and Kelton disappeared into the basement and played for a good four hours together! She never wanted him to leave. It will be a holiday that she won't soon forget!

As soon as Kelton got here this morning, we checked out the wagon that Garyldine decorated for us. We loved it - especially the bubble machines!

We worked together to pull the wagon to the beginning of the parade route. Then we looked behind us and saw...

…that our big family created our own parade!

We all worked together to get the wagon up our big hill!

At the beginning of the parade route, Garyldine became really patriotic!

When it was finally time for the parade to begin, Kelton and I sung and danced our way down the road.

We waved our flags as we passed the people we knew!

As the parade was ending, we got tired of pulling the wagon, and let Angie pull it for us.

Then I took Kelton to my playground. We didn't get to play much because it was so hot.

Instead, we got to meet a fireman who gave us stickers and let us sit in his fire truck!

Then we relaxed on the back of the truck and snacked on popcorn.

As we finished our popcorn, Angie pulled us home in the wagon.

When we got home, Kelton and I went downstairs. I showed him how to apply make-up.

He was a natural...

…and very proud of his make-up skills.

I got out my tunnel and connected it to my castle for fun!

Then we went back to hair and make-up.

Kelton loved learning about make-up, and I loved...

…learning how to make a camp fire with a hula hoop.

Near the end of our visit, we pretended to sleep while we waited for Santa Claus.

Kelton was pretty good at his fake sleeping.

When I found out he had to leave, I insisted on giving him a hug and a kiss!

After Kelton left, I said good-bye to Garyldine in our special way!
Happy 4th of July!
