Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Ketchikan, Alaska

The morning after we left Sitka, we docked in Ketchikan. We really liked the town and wished we could have stayed there a bit longer, but we were only there until 1:00. Just like the other days in Alaska, we were lucky to have blue skies and nice weather.

We spent a good part of the morning at the Great Alaska Lumberjack Show. We watched two lumberjack teams "compete" against one another as they had done in the past. They really did have amazing skills. Katie told me later that she liked the two-man saw competition the most. The things she didn't like: the loud chainsaws and the fact that she was sitting a few rows behind Grandma and Grandpa.

After the show, my dad walked back to the ship and the rest of us walked around the town for 45 minutes or so before it was time to set sail.

We got to Ketchikan early in the morning!

Aunt Jennifer took some pictures of the town from our ship.

The town was surrounded by mountains and the ocean.

Isn't Alaska pretty?

This was Grandma in front of our cruise ship. I wish I could have sat by her at our show.

I don't really know what to expect from this lumberjack show.

I liked watching those saws. They weren't noisy.

That lumberjack stood on that plank pretty high up in the air.

I also liked when the lumberjacks raced up and down the poles.

We found this tall totem pole in town.

This was a small shopping area, but I liked looking in the water. It was clear enough to see all of the fish swimming through it.
