Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

An Early Mother's Day Present

This year, I asked Katie what she wanted to get her grandma for Mother's Day. Without missing a beat, she said, "A big Ursula!" For those of you who may not know, Ursula is the bad character in The Little Mermaid.

My mom and Katie have a running joke…every time Katie shows my mom a picture of Ursula, every time Katie shows my mom her little plastic Ursula, or every time Katie points out that Ursula is singing on her iPod, my mom acts scared of her and Katie bursts out laughing. So, of course, Katie thought it would be funny to get her an Ursula doll. I thought she did pretty well for her first joke present.

After I went shopping with Katie, I told her we were going to keep the present a secret until Mother's Day, but something that exciting can't stay a secret for long. Not surprisingly, my mom got an early Mother's Day gift from Katie.

Happy Mother's Day, Gaga!
