Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Reconsidering the Wish List

We were out shopping not too long ago, and my sister, Jennifer, asked Katie if she wanted to visit Santa Claus. Katie absolutely did not want to go see him because she was feeling shy. Jennifer took Katie over to an area where she could see Santa from a distance and convinced Katie to wave to him. Santa caught sight of Katie and invited her over for a chat. (It was before Thanksgiving, so Santa had no line at all.)

When Katie got over to Santa, she shared that she wanted a real life unicorn for Christmas. Santa broke the news that he won't be able to get her a real unicorn because they're so hard to catch. He said that unicorns eat magical food, and he doesn't have any of their food, so he can't even lure one with food. He assured Katie that he would still get her something that she would love just like he always had. Then he made a pinkie promise with Katie. As a result of that promise, Katie would have to smile at ten people that day and get them to smile back at her. When Katie left, she was pretty upbeat about the whole thing.

After Katie found out that she couldn't get a real life unicorn, she started making some changes to her wish list. She found a different unicorn that she thought she might like.

I think this unicorn would be pretty perfect!
