Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

Diving into Local Politics

As you may or may not know, Katie started having a fascination with presidents around the time she was two or three years old. She quickly learned the names of all the presidents, started writing letters to presidents, met a president, and in general, was excited about all of them. Since the last election, however, she has been disappointed that she can't look to the current president as a role model. That being said, it has been a learning experience for her because she has been learning about what she can do as a citizen to get involved and hopefully inspire change. She has been to several marches, and with the upcoming elections, Katie has been learning about local politics. She went with us recently to a panel to hear the thoughts of five people who are running in our area for the U.S. House of Representatives. Since going there, she has been so excited to see the signs around the town with their names on them and was also over the moon when our voting ballots got to the house. She was even excited when the Voter's Pamphlet arrived at the house, so she could read about the people she hadn't met.

I'm pretty sure I was the only kid in the whole room, but I was happy to be here and learn about these people!
