Red Thread...

There is an ancient Chinese belief which states that there is an invisible red thread that connects each of us to all of the individuals who have been, currently are, and will in the future be important to us in our lives.

This red thread can stretch, twist, and bend… but will never break.

An Exchange with Santa Claus

After we left Disney's California Adventure, Jennifer, Katie, and I were in the hotel lobby when we saw Santa Claus. We asked Katie if she wanted to go see him, and it wasn't a surprise to us when she answered, "NO!" In the past we have tried the ol' picture-with-Santa tradition, and it has only resulted in trauma and tears.

We didn't want any of that on our trip, so we just let Katie appreciate Santa from a distance. Santa glanced over and gave her a wave. Katie appreciated it but not enough to wave back.

When we got back to our hotel room, Katie said she was going to write a letter to Santa. In her best "cursive," she politely asked Santa for an Anna nightgown with a long cape. She was so excited about her letter that she wanted to deliver it straight to him. Back down to the lobby we went. We didn't have high expectations, but Katie delivered her letter, and Jennifer helped interpret for Santa. Katie even took a picture with him, but she chose to stand next to him instead of sit on his lap. It was a huge accomplishment for Katie, and she was very proud of herself!

This was the letter I delivered to Santa Claus.

I know he's checking his naughty and nice list, but I sure hope I get my Anna nightgown with the long, long cape.
